Sea Capt/Buys land yacht

Greetings:
After 28 years at sea on "fancy motor yachts" I wandered for months looking for a little place. So I bought a .8 acre out side of Bellingham WA.
After 2 months of rebuilding a pole barn on property and un decided on next project bought an '05 Safari 25' WB (singles in the stern) when I placed a desperate add -WTB on craiglist.
Little old lady who just lost her husband sold me her 5th and last Airstream...
I did'ent have the heart to beat her down on price...it's been a life time dream and besides her husband was a Navy seaman.
I don't have a tow truck (mines a FD Ranger 4banger that could'ent pull a chicken coop up hill).
Fortunately the pole barn once had a big door....so I spent days cutting metal and framing and adding a door panel for a 10' high opening.
Next project is to pay someone to pull the "Toaster" "home" and build a South pacific "movie set" inside the barn to reflect a "tiki hut beach theme".
Service hook up should be done by Friday and it's designed for both inside and outside parking hook up.
I'll post pics and most certainly beg advice in near future.
Have room for visitors.... if you're passing through, drop by.
Cheers
Del

It sounds like a great new voyage for you. One totally different from what you have done before. Welcome to the Airforums. I have noticed a fair number are from the Seattle area. I am sure you will have many visitors.

Howdy and welcome to Airforums.com, Cap'n! I hope you're enjoying your new adventures being permanently "in port".

Sounds like you procured yourself a sweet yar vessel for moving around as well as staying in Bellingham. And as you mentioned, we are here to be your resource should you need information.

So join in and make yourself to home! And you'll see no pirating, despite the fact that we talk all the time about ARRRRR-vees!

ps: be sure to take a few minutes to post photos of that new vessel of yours, we'd love to see it!

Congratulations! We too lived for 15 years on our self built Cowhorn schooner in the Caribbean. Now we just bought a 31 foot airstream classic and that will become our land yacht. We hope to be out your way in a couple of years headed for Alaska. Maybe we can hook up. Right now we are tacking south to get home to Florida from picking her up from Pa. Enjoy your new airstream!

Welcome aboard Del. Did the same thing, sold my tugboat in Seattle and bought an airstream (and in the hunt for a small piece of land too )

Congrats, good choice, no bilge pumps, anchors, or saltwater corrosion to maintain.

Today I had an RV firm p/u the Safari and I followed her down the road. Looked good but now she's in the shop for a break and safety check and I'm worried they'll put a scratch in her.
She looked so big until she got docked next to that beast.
Hope to have her in the barn by next Wed.
All the best to everyone

I know what you mean about leaving your prize at the shop. We need to put ours in for the Dometic fridge recall and want to wait for them to do it when we can be there--even though it will be at an Airstream dealer, nobody cares for your baby like you do...Happy trails- no need to worry if the wind is at your back, abeam or on the nose any longer

Tharrrr "he" blows!!!

It's official.
Tinbad has reached "home port", been inspected by the "authorities" (girl friend) and has "been cleared" for unlimited future use.
As you may see.....I'm just starting to remove all fittings (between cutting grass and moving stones)...detailing all storage areas and generally getting a feel for this new experience.
I'm still pretty tickled about the whole deal and really needed a cool project.
So far the water heater is working (but does'ent seem to turn off so I do it manually, ) furnace/AC ... no problem, Fridge is great, Black, Grey and FW systems very good but will be silent when I finish plumbing the barn to take care of that....just bought new bedding and galley tools etc. and etc.

So far so good.
