saying hello from Michigan

Hello, we are Max and Susan from Wyoming Michigan. We have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. Last year about this time we decided to buy a travel trailer and see some of this beautiful country. Retiring from the local telephone company of 34 years we thought we would have time to burn. After looking at all the "box trailers" and looking at the new Airstreams we knew that a Airstream was for us. Although we have never been camping before ( we have a cottage in northern Michigan where we spend most of our spare time and money) we decided to look for a used unit and give it a try. Two months later we found a 1999 23 ft Safari in excellant condition. That was in late March. We didn't get it on the road until mid September when we took a trip to Lancaster Pa. Everything that I had read about RV camping turned out to be true. We meet the nicest people, enjoy the aspects of using your own private bathroom any time of the day, cooking in your underwear LOL and really kicking back. We also have a Chinese Crested ( little dog) that enjoys traviling with us . We pull the Airstream with our 2003 Expidition with the 5.4 liter , resulting in 10/11 mpg travling about 60-65mph.

Max and Susan

Welcome from the other side of the lake. I love to see new people from the Mid-West on the forum. Now I have someone else to share snow and cold stories with.
Congratulations on your purchase and I hope you have many more happy and safe trips.

just a update from when we had the 23 ft, we moved up to a 31 ft classic but still have the same 2003 expidition. now we pull at 55-60 and get about 10 to 11 mpg. sometimes we think a bigger tv would be great up the big mountains but the Expidition does everything so well ( and still fits in the garage) that we hate to move up to a bigger tv.

Jethro, the rivets come from how many posts. (sorry, just had to do it) Jethro is out here trying to get the county to give him a permit to build a Beverly Hillbillies casino.

We just met up with a whole bunch of MI Airstreamers at the Metro-Detroit rally at Milan. It was a bunch of fun that drew lots of folks. It was an informal air forums rally.
We are glad to see you are having fun camping!
