And at this stage of my life there care not many things in which I can be called a rookie. Back in the mid-70's I was working as a fitter/welder and traveling all over the country. Essentially, I was proving the axiom that the rolling stone gathers no moss. Anyway, we looked at AS' then as a better option than the cheap motels and apts we lived in. A fortunate change of careers prevented the acquisition. Now, all this time later I have this burning desire to get an AS. Used is definitely the way we will go and have been on this site and ebay looking at trailers. I'm going to take my time on this as we are in the beginning stages of bathroom and kitchen remodels at our new old home

This site has been instrumental in fanning the flames and obviously a huge resource. I will take the liberty of thanking you all, in advance, for your patience with me.

One thing you have going for you is you know how to weld. You might be able to find one for a very reasonable price that needs some structural work done to it. Myself I had to learn as I went along fixing and restoring an Airstream. I learned much and we have really enjoyed ours. I had to take the bathroom and part of the floor to fix some structural deteriation. I had to pay a welder for the work and I put it all back together. I feel we got a great deal and now have a good trailer. Check out Craiglist.
