Rivet Fever

OK, OK, OK...so I've lived in the Mother Lode country of California and read enough Mark Twain, Brett Harte and Jack London to know a little about gold fever, but what is it that happens deep down inside when one sees this wonderful design and form of shining aluminium bonded with rows of rivets? I'm new to this forum and have ARF (Aluminium-Rivet Fever). After reading a few threads and looking at some of the photos I get the feeling that there is a love of the machine, life-style and comaraderie rampant throughout. Is this true?

I'm a photographer, having lived in the western US for almost forty years, a large part of that teaching photography in the mountains, desert and on the coast. Just my pickup and Alaskan. But now...Time for a Change! I'm looking forward to connecting with some of you out there in Airstream Cyberville and eventually at a rally or on our lavender farm here in Sequim, Washington (far upper left corner of the US map).

I live here with my wife, Magdalena, our three dogs, Ruby (Jack Russell Terrier), Maxwell Perkins & Senator K. Thorvaldson (Whippets). Chloe (our cat) is the unchallenged Queen of the roost. Magdalena is a graphic designer and lavender farmer. I sell residential real estate, teach photography, grow organic garlic and restore historic photographs.

Looking forward to meeting old and new members!

Welcome, Yes this is the wild West. And there are many parts to its history. However I have yet to see an Airstream with a saddle.

Welcome to this most wonderful forum where we celebrate our fondness (AKA addiction) to Airstreams/Argosies and share in the camaraderie you describe above. This is a good place to begin your search, reading threads and using the search tool to investigate. Also, be sure to check into our Classifieds, where you just MAY find the silver beauty of your dreams! ~G

Thanks NorCal B,

The Cowboy Bar in Jackson Hole has saddles where the stools should be. In an Airstream? Probably not so good.

It's understandable. Even the frogs in our part of the country say: "Rivet, rivet"

Hi and welcome. Which Lavender farm? My Band has played at the Lavender festival from time to time. Last time we were there I heard Lavender described as "catnip for women".....

Blue Moon

Hi Janet,

Thank you for your welcome. We have Blue Moon Lavender Farm (.com), located in Happy Valley, in the foothills a couple of miles south of Sequim. We also have herbs and gourmet garlic.

Which farms have you played on? What kind of music?

Very pretty Argosy Minuet! And, a lovely photo of your grandaughter.

Do these little rivet-rivet frogs also wear little blue berets?

Woof!

Hi Janet,

Is the idea of lavender as "catnip for women" perhaps a marketable item? Have you thought of packaging a bag of lavender bud with your music CDs? When I'm out in the field harvesting lavender, it only takes twenty minutes or so until I feel like Dorothy and Toto in the field of poppies as they are getting close to Oz!
