Retiring in our 30s

Just kidding - we're not retiring but we are in our 30's.

My name is Sarah and my husband Frank and I bought a 2010 16' Sport in October of 2013. The purchase was symbolic for me as I had told my business associates that I wanted to unplug and not be so overcommitted at work.

I'm embarrassed to admit that we named our AS "Bambi." We both knew nothing about ASs so when the guy who sold it to us said it was a Bambi model I went gaga and thought that was the cutest thing ever and the name just stuck.

Frank and I both grew up in South Florida. My family are big campers (tents) so upgrading to an AS has be the ultimate "glamping" experience. The only thing I miss about tent camping is the sound of the outdoors when you go to sleep. In S. FL. all we hear is the hum of the A/C.

We will be attending the ABQ Balloon Fiesta and staying with the other 199 AS'ers in October. This will be our first long haul and our first time boon docking. A little nervous but am getting lots of questions answered here on the forums!

I'm keeping an online journal of our travels:

I look forward to interacting with the community and learning from all of the experience.

Greetings From The Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us. We are twice your age, and are originally from Miami. We attended the Balloon Fiesta with the Airstream group in 2008. It was a great experience. May you have many great Airstream adventures.

Awesome - I am 31 (as is wife) - two small kids - I'm envious!! Good luck and have a blast!

I am hoping in 5-8 years we will manage a 1 month vacation out west in our AS - otherwise we just keep on schlepping away enjoying weekends and a bit of annual leave here and there

I'll keep an eye on your blog
