Reintroduction

I was active on this forum up until about seven years ago. Many things changed in my life, quickly, and not all of them were good. I was living in California and working as a freelance motorsports photographer when my best friend and business partner died in a kayaking accident. His wife flew out from Texas to get his truck and some other belongings, and helped me move back to Texas. We had planned to make the 2004 gathering at Laguna Seca but ran out of time and had to hit the road for Texas and bypass Laguna Seca without notice to the group.

My wife and I have settled in Round Rock, just north of Austin, and I am attending St. Edward's University in Austin pursuing a long-neglected degree in photography. We just bought a 2011 Ford F150 Ecoboost and are saving our pennies for another travel trailer. Considering our options a used Airstream will be on the short list.

I hope to remain active on this forum again, and promise I will not disappear without notice again.

Welcome. We're glad that you have your way to us. These Forums are still alive and well, and the best source of Airstream information.

Stuff happens, and I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. The Net is always here. Welcome back.

Thanks everyone. Things are looking much better. I was severely depressed for a while after my friend died. His wife has remarried a great guy, and I even took photos at their wedding. We remain friends. In fact, I adopted her as my little sister, so she's family now. I always wanted a sister. Didn't realize what a pain they could be. ;-)

One reason I want a travel trailer is to camp at National Forest Service campgrounds, so I'm looking at smaller units. I'm shocked at how the price of used Airstreams has escalated since my wife and I moved back to Texas. Shoulda kept the Overlander and restored it. Oh well, I'm looking for a 22-foot or shorter TT anyway. Can't get a longer unit to some of the places I want to go.

I don't know, I have gotten my 24fter into some improbable places (and back out so far). I am also a fan of the wild places and photography, keep us up to date on your adventures and post lots of pictures.

Very cool; I have family in Round Rock. My mom grew up in Hutto on my grandparents' farm, but she's now been a Wisconsinite for 47 years. Still, I know the area well.

Welcome back! You're definitely among friends here...

Rodney, I spent about two hours this morning following links from your website: ended up at a campground on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Buying an Airstream is like buying a BMW or Harley: you don't just buy a vehicle you join an extended family.

Welcome back, and Welcome to Texas.

We relocated to San Antonio, TX in June of 2010.
