If you need some info on where to find parts or do things like remove a pannel or other restoration items let me know. I have a good list of sources that I kept from the restoration of my 59. Also I have a lot of photos I took that may help you down the line as you move forward.

Good luck, I had a blast (4 years worth) doing mine!

I really don't know where to start and am having a little trouble searching for parts. I think first of all maybe I should be looking for a couple of windows that need replacing on both trailers. Then a toilet and fridge. Where is the best jumping off point? Yeah for Kansas. Not many of us out here!

Oh My Julie: You are impressive. Wow! Keep your eye on the prize. If it were me I would tackle one project first, whichever is easiest; get that experience under your belt. Though sentiment says do the 50' FC. As a kid I always liked them too. Best of Luck.

Great find! Besides the forum for answers, it will help if you start sending emails and make subsequent phone calls to folks close to you in Kansas. Sometimes after an exhaustive search on the forums, you won't have an answer, so if you have friends you can call, it saves a LOT of time. So, a shout out to Zep, Aerowood, and Royce, who I've met thru the forums and have saved me many hours and helped me spend lots of money

I just saw your last post. The first thing I would do is what I would do if this were a house I was rehabbing. I would start with the foundation and make sure the flooring and the frame are sound. It is ok to gather parts if you know what you want. What you want to avoid is having to redo what you have already done. You need a plan so that you stay in logical sequence.

There are some really knowledgeable people on this forum and I would check with them as to where to begin. Especially with the 50' don't be in a hurry. That one could be a real heartstopper.

Like Jim and Brad said, the frame. Before installing things inside and making things pretty on the outside, make sure the frame doesn't need work. You'll just end up ripping the inside up again to have work done to the frame. Especially with that pipe frame.

I've never seen an FC with windows like that. So it has the old-style frame as well?

All the windows are good exept one. Maybe I can have a glass company just make one?????

It is the old style frame. Thanks for the advice, I will take care of the frame first. I think it is one of the very earliest of the 1950 models. The serial number is 5009 if that means anything.

If you have the frame the easiest and quickest thing to do is have a glass shop replace the glass and if there is any repair to the frame they are probably able to do that as well. Finding replacement windows for trailers of this vintage is very difficult.

Keep the weather and critters out of them by sealing up whatever you can, so with glass if that does it great.

Say, Julie, you ought to get hold of Judy in Pittsburg. Being just 32 miles from you, you might be able to compare suppliers (and feel each other's pain). She's rebuilding too! We finally got ours on the road this past September, after working on him for three years!

So happy that we will be seeing more Silver on the road in the Sunflower State!
