Smile proud new parents

John and I just brought home our 2780 lb., bouncing (needs shocks), baby shiny....he is actually older than we are...50 yrs old to be exact. Our friends are trying to be happy for us but they don't quite see the diamond in the rough that we do. We bought a 55 flying cloud with a nice straight exterior and original cabinetry. It is an awesome fixer upper! We have no experience except for old house renovating. I have learned a lot from looking at websites and these forums over the past months. Any and all advice is appreciated!

Congratulations. I wish I could say that my '51 FC was older than I am but I beat it by a year. Pictures - that's what we need to see - Pictures. You will get a ton of great ideas off this site.

Pictures of my '51 are here:

http://www.vintageairstream.com/arch...ud2/index.html

It was lots of fun doing. Mine was by no means gutted when I got it but we redid much of the interior. It was five months of fun and learning and figuring out what NOT to do. You will love your new baby.

Team Work

You two do make an excellent team!
Just 50 more elevator bolts, and the floor is done..

Can't wait to toss that old floor. It has been on the side of the house since September. Trash day is Thursday.

Before the shell goes on....

- prep plywood floor
- run to Hollywood to pick up Marmoleum
- pick up aluminum and have u-channel bent
- install floor and cover with protective paper
- order rivets and vulkum

Am I missing anything Uwe?

Right on! Now we need to come up with some floor channel that does not look like swiss cheese.

The only thing I can think of at the moment would be some 12/2 wire for the new electric brakes. You need enoughto go from the coupler to the axle, and then from side to side.

Shell on!

The shell is back on it's frame. Not yet massaged into place, but it is back on and in the channel. Just needs some minor adjustments. Let's go camping...

I love happy endings and this one is certainly heading that way quickly. The pictures are great.

Gosh, a couple of weeks (okay, that is a bit enthusiastic) and you will be out in the wilds enjoy your new baby.

Happy Easter
