Planning to join the Airstream family

My wife and I are planning on buying an Airstream - our first one. We are looking at the Flying Cloud 25 with twin beds. Question: we will be travelling all over the US and will be in areas where the temps occasionally drop to the 20s for a couple of nights. What kind of problems (if any) have people encountered with cold temps? We have been told that "newer" models have heated holding tanks. Is this accurate? What year were heated tanks offered? Many thanks.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

We have been traveling extensively in a 25FB for the past nine years. First a 2005 and now a 2015. We have spent over 1,500 nights in our Airstreams, and have towed the nearly 140,000 miles all over the United States.

We travel to Maine and Wyoming and often encounter temperatures in the 20's. Heated tanks have always been offered when you use the gas furnace. We still use the heat pump whenever possible.

You are on the right track for doing what you are wanting to do.

I have a 2012 Eddie Bauer 25', and regularly glamp in the Sierra. Had 2" of snow on last trip, you can't go wrong with the AS!

When you get busy checking out your target AS, you can ensure it was or will be built (if special order) has 'heated air' ducted from the built in FURNACE. Most folks don't have issues except for the incoming water hose freezing up... Many techniques to address this...
Peace and Blessings..
