Our 2015 Flying Cloud 28 Twin is fresh in from the factory, and we're picking it up in the morning. We now have come full circle. Started RVing in 2007 with a new Eddie Bauer Safari 25FB. Loved it, but it was a bit crowded for extended time away from fixed location house for two adults and two dogs! So, we bought a 2010 36' Tiffin Allegro Red diesel pusher. Great rig, complete with stack washer and dryer. But, too big and sorta scary in tight places, especially with a Jeep in tow. Which led to a 2012 Jayco Melbourne 29D class C. But, it just didn't feel right and still had to tow the Jeep, which I really did not like doing. So, back to Airstream, which I've always wanted anyhow. This time a bit longer, and with the dinette and couch, should be just what we need. Have heard that the fifth RV is the one you really wanted. I'm hoping that's wrong and we keep the FC for a long time. Anyhow, now that we're proud Airstream owners again, look forward to participating in forum discussions. Have been lurking for several weeks and have picked up many great tips. Thanks to all who share so freely of your knowledge and experience. We're ready to hit the road!

With our first Airstream in 2007, it took me some time to discover there was such a thing as this forum. I think I did ask a question or two, but mostly checked periodically just to learn what I could. By the time I was sorta experienced with the Safari, we traded it for the big motorhome. Regarding the Eddie Bauer Safari 25FB, it was the 75th Anniversary model. It was great for a long weekend or even a two week getaway. But, on extended trips to Florida and Canada, we felt a bit cramped. The only place to sit was the dinette ( made DVD and TV viewing uncomfortable). The side couch really was not useable, except as a good place for the doggies to look out the window. And, the two of them were always underfoot! The FB feature was great, but we've decided the queen bed may not be best for us. That was our experience with both the class A and class C also. We hope the twin beds on the FC work out better. Heading out the door for the dealer. Shake down cruise next week!

Hi, welcome to the forums. Hope this trailer works for you for many miles to come. Be sure to check out Air Forums rallies along your travels - a great way to meet kindred spirits.

I suspect you'll like the twin bed arrangement. I know we do. The outside storage is more accessible because you typically have a compartment under each side rather than a single (albeit larger) compartment under the queen.

In addition, the aisle between the beds is wonderfully spacious compared to the narrow side aisles adjacent to a queen bed. And, in the 28ft. length there is usually a small hanging closet above the foot of each bed and some room on the floor at the foot of each bed.

If more people could get beyond the "I want to sleep with my partner" frame of mind, I think twin bed floor plans would be a top seller.

I have the same feelings about the rear dinette now after owning our 2008 Classic 25fb. I even looked at a 2005 25SS a few months ago but we didn't like the rear bed/bath arrangement. I wish AS would bring back the old 25 floor plan with the single couch with the expandable side table with a small TV cabinet next to the fridge. Eating at a dinette is such a short term activity every day it doesn't warrant taking up so much dedicated space in a 25fb/rb.

Doubt we'll ever get beyond that, but I'm in my 70th year who knows.

Regarding bench seats in the Eddie Bauer, I think they could be easily removed and replaced with reclining chairs, and build a smaller removable dining table top between them for dining. We did something similar in our 25RB for long term travel comfort.

Welcome hirstpb. You're a bunch lucky to get a new 28' Airstream. I sure hope you enjoy it. We too prefer the twin bed layouts, and we too find the dinnet rather uncomfortable. dkottum twin recliner conversion looks ideal to me. We have one recliner in our Airstream and I wouldn't give it up. You would be surprised how much I can eat in my recliner! The wife likes her couch, so I guess we are all set for a rainy afternoon in the Airstream.

Post a picture of your new Airstream when you get a chance. I'd love to see it inside and out.

Congratulations!! We picked up a 2005 28' Serenity last Thursday in OKC. Tows like a dream. Not towing a house anymore.

Hirsptd, does your 2015 FC 28 have one or two Fantastic Fans? My 28 Rear Queen just arrived and I noticed only one Fan; thought standard features included two. Just curious. Enjoy.

Thought I knew the answer, but just went outside to confirm. There is only one fantastic fan forward. You lose the second one with the second a/c unit. Not much room left on the roof for much else. Guess it will be an interesting challenge to add solar panels if we decide to go with that capability. Understand there are some long skinny panels that fit. Meanwhile, the snow has melted and we finally can get out of the driveway and on the road! Delayed shakedown cruise next week!!!
