Our new Caravel...

Our trip to Idaho was a great success! We purchased this awesome 71 Caravel from a really great member here on AF. Aside from the upholstered cushions, the interior is all original.

Here are the pictures we saw via email...

We left yesterday morning from Columbus, MT and drove 415 miles to Lowell, ID. We saw 8 airstreams along the way, only 1 (an interstate) was actually on the road.

Here's our little dove just before going over the Lolo pass on hwy 12...

...and our first night in the Caravel (we stayed at the Lolo Hot Springs RV park)...

We are super excited!! She is in perfect condition, flawless IMO. Brand new tires, everything runs great, the PO really took extra great care of her. He took the time to write up a "how to" manual and gave us lots of documention on the history of this baby; not to mention a CD full of all the photos he had since acquiring her. Wahooo.

Can't wait to go camping!!!

P.S. A big thanks to Rob for making our AS dreams come true!

that is wonderful! a sweet looking trailer if i do say so. you will be so happy that you followed your heart and got an airstream rather than settling for something else.
many adventures await you.

I always tell people looking for an airstream to buy the best one that you can find. It looks like you found a great one! I just love the Caravels. It believe it is one of the best floorplans Airstream has, and of course the Tradewind has a great floorplan too.

Hope that you have lots of camping adventures in your Caravel. No reason that it can't do just as well for you as for the PO.

Congrats and welcome.

Sweet! Looks great - and, pulling with that rig, I'm sure you can really say "...it's like it's not even there!" Hope you got going early and missed the snow today - 3" on the ground here in Zoo town. See you on the road!

What can I say, I loved that Caravel but with a new 2014 20' on order, it was time that someone else enjoys it as much as I did. I am very pleased that it went to a new member of our community, and will not become a pool cabana or be shipped overseas. They are too rare to be wasted that way. They need to be used and loved and camped in.

I expect that Val and Scott will have it for a long time and will keep it well and sound. They were great to work with on the sale also. Professionals.

Next will be the Argosy sale, but not until the new FC comes in. I only need one trailer I guess, but in some ways not owning vintage will be strange. An oldbee in a new Airstream, not sure I can adjust.

Thanks everyone for the warm wishes. Weather was perfect the entire way home, but started snowing about an hour after arriving back. We've now got 3+ inches on the ground. It should be 63 by Thursday, so we're gonna attempt to camp at Itch-ke-pee park this weekend. It's located here in Columbus along the Yellowstone River; perfect place to try things out.

Cheers!

Thanks again Rob. You know I never realized you'd be without a vintage AS. Still a brand new AS will quickly take your mond off that. When does it arrive?

If that's the little "city" park right on the river, you might see us there someday. Only a few spots as I recall but it looked like a great spot to hit for an overnight and so close to the river... and convenient to the interstate, too.

Thanks MarkE, SurfPod (LOL) and Landyaghtfan! We've been camping every weekend since purchasing our Pea Pod. We'll be skipping this Memorial weekend though, not interested in the crowds if I can help it.

It's very difficult to wait, but we're taking the time to fix two minor things. First, the trim around the dinette which needed to be re-attached in places. Second, the sink faucet leaks (drips) around the base/lever. We tried removing the on/off lever and tightened things up. Thought we had it fixed, but then after a few uses the leaking started again. We're probably just going to replace it at this point. Then...

It's adventure time!!
