Our first Airstream
We just purchased our first Airstream trailer...actually, its the first of any kind of RV/trailer. We pick it up on Tuesday, and I am so excited. I retired a year ago, and my husband retired 2 years ago. Its been a long time dream of mine to tour the county in an Airstream trailer, and I'm finally close to fulfilling my dream. I wanted a vintage trailer, but my husband wanted to go new--he won, but I'm not complaining. I'm thrilled we bought our adorable 23' Safari; its the maximum we can comfortably tow with my Tundra. We live in Northern California, and plan to attend the NorCal rally in October, where we hope to meet other Airstream entusiasts to learn and share experiences.

Welcome to the forums!
Your combination of tow vehicle and trailer size should make for enjoyable towing for many trouble free years.
I look forward to meeting you at Lake San Antonio this fall! Make sure and enter yourself in the Rally list.

Well, I'm jealous! I'm still looking at 4 1/2 years until I retire with 40 years from my employer and even then I will have to work a few years until SS kicks in. I have plenty of leave time built up so at least I can take short trips over the next few years until I can really let my hair down. Enjoy your retirement and see as much of the country you can. Good to have you on the forum also.

Hi Otters and welcome. Congratulations on your new As Trailer and retirement. Great camping spots here in N Calif (I live in San Francisco). I much prefer the State and National Parks and the ones in this area are especially beautiful. Good luck on your new camping endeavor. joe

rvlover, what particular places do you recommend? We especially like lush, cool forests but don't know what's best from a trailer-towing perspective. We're planning to go to the October NorCal rally at Lake San Antonio.

Welcome Otters! Felt like I was reading my own story. We, too, are recently retired--bought our first Airstream (after years of wishing)--and pull our Safari with a Tundra. We live in Southern California, actually Santa Catalina Island, but keep the AS on the mainland. May you have many years of enjoyment and new adventures. Hope to see you somewhere along the way!

Welcome to both of you. We just purchased our first Airstream (an '06 22' International, and I'm another new member) and are so excited to get going, too. We live in Massachusetts and plan our first trips around New England - probably mostly Maine and Vermont - but can't wait to get out west. We're still a few years away from retirement - not too many, but I'm still itchy to get travellling and I can't think of a better way to go than in an Airstream. Enjoy yourselves!

Congratulations on your new Airstream. I just picked up our's this past Friday. I had to work the weekend, so we didn't get to take it out. We got a 19' Int. We've got several years until retirement. My wife is a teacher so we do have spring breaks and summers off for travel.
