Smile oldtimer camper/mobilehome/RV

Hello everybody, I now own a 1984 Hymer (german) camper with mercedes diesel (3Litre) engine at some time I want to replace it with something larger but not weighing in excess of 3500 Kg. as my european licence is limited to that (unless I spend a small fortune to acquire a "truck licence". I live in holland and if I import a vehicle it will have to be somewhat older 25 years or more in connection with import duties. What RV might be suitable in the Airstream range, are there any with diesel engines??.I am quite capable of doing restoration work but would prefer to minimise that not least of all that working with aluminium is not so easy as steel plate ,I can't alu weld!! All for now but if I get some answers I have a whole load of questions of a more technical nature. Brian P.S. my time is 11.00 A.M.

Hi, and welcome to the forums. For our metrically-challenged friends, you are looking for a motor home less than 7700 pounds in weight. You might find an Argosy 20 motorhome in that weight range, but most everything else will be at or over it. A small diesel motorhome would be an Airstream 280, but two problems arise with that. First, it will probably be too new, and second, it will be too heavy.
Can you tow a trailer? Maybe an Argosy 20 trailer, or Globetrotter, would be better choices. The Argosy weighs in at 2880 pounds, and I think the AZirstream is around 3200 pounds.
