Okies JitneyBead say hello. 1964 Safari

Alright, I've been lurking on the Forums for a bit. Time for introductions. We are located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Beader has a 1964 22' Safari that she letting me enjoy. Yes, the AS is hers, nicknamed Cat1. Long story how she acquired it, but she has taken very good care of it with the help of friends and a little paid help. The interior has been updated completely by her and some systems have been repaired or replaced.

I'm the boyfriend and I hope to stick around for awhile and not just so I can enjoy the AS. I've been appointed chief driver and backer-upper and chief mechanic.

She's all aesthetics, I'm all mechanics - cars and motorcycles and toys. We both love this thing and hope to keep it on the road for many years to come. We're in our 40s - on the second go around in life and ready for adventure.

We're replacing the axle this weekend to get the running gear in order (the Beader took it to Burning Man last year and came back with tires cupped and burned to the tread threads) heading for Tuscon the first week of Feb. with lots of trips planned for the year.

I'll post pics of the swap out, maybe video even.

Thanks everyone in advance for welcomes and input.
Jitney

Welcome to the forums! We're glad you're here - I certainly enjoyed reading your first post. Good luck with the axle and ask away if you have questions as you go.

Tulsa, Oklahoma; I spent the first 25 years of my life there; my mother still lives there (89 years old) in the home my parents built in 1957 at 45th and South Lewis; I drive up from Houston every month or so; very nice city.

Welcome to the forum!

I'm right at 41st and Riverside. Would be happy to meet up, assuming you can keep the "BS" to a minimum.

We could hook up the Airstreams and park them in front - run over a few Harleys while we're at it.

Welcome! There's a funny thing about this site and rally sign-ups, your Burningman 2011 camp sign up shows up only if you're not signed in to airforums, but it's not there if you're viewing it when signed in. Hope you can come and contribute to our Airstreameri and Geologists theme camp.

Yeah, I am not really a BS kinda guy since I went to State, that's my "spousal equivalents" department. I am 2 blocks north and 3 blocks east of your referenced location, however my AS is stored in the boonies just now.

Pick some evening after work in the next couple of weeks or so. I'll ride my Honda!
