Not-so Newbie

I've been reading this forum for some time, very informative.
Have a 76 Argosy 24. Essentially original condition. Wear and tear expected.
By the paper trail I am third to have it (owned by it?). Had it for about a year, got out with it twice last year. .....Yeah I know, moving wheels and such.
So far replaced breakaway switch and fan over stove. Tires.
Axles are good, based on all the available info re: tire amount visible.
Currently replacing brake asemblies. 2 done, 2 to go. Re-lubing bearings along the way.
That done, I'll need to solve slow leak through valve of grey tank.

Many years ago had SOB mothor home. Sold brick and mortar house. Traversed all the contiguous states for about a year and a half. In lieu of working. Kinda like practice for retirement, which now am for almost two years.

Cheers.

Welcome! Sounds like you've been plenty busy - be sure to post some pictures of your Argosy when you get a chance.

I like the idea of a practice run for retirement - you don't want to go into that without knowing what you're doing

Thanks for the welcome notes.
Will get photos soon as I get a digital camera.
Yeah, that practice retirement was real useful.. When I did it for real, it was somewhat familiar.

We have the 78, 24ft Argosy. Got a slow trickle leak into the toilet which isn't really a bad thing unless you want to boondock or are at a campground where they frown at liquid running out of your trailer. Instead of putting in a new toilet we thought we would just put a shut-off valve on the supply line to the toilet. I think we could fix the toilet without replacing it, but you know sometimes you just don't have it left in you to pull the hard jobs. Send us pictures of your Argosy. There are a lot of us Argosy owners on here and we are a loyal bunch when it comes to our cute cream Airstreams.

threads for rebuilding gray valve

Larry and I have a 1978 Argosy Minuet 6.7 metre. There are lots of good threads on here about rebuilding the gray and black tank valves. Larry has rebuilt ours. They were original equipment and made it up until this past year. The main rubber seal was shrunk, cracked and brittle. Larry bought a whole valve assembly and used all but half of the housing. It was in a very awkward position to work on. Took about 3-4 hours to do the gray one. The black tank valve took an hour. On the Minuet, the gray tank valve is tight up against the frame rail. Hope you will have more maneuvering room.
Good luck with your work list!

Thanks for the comments.
Have not done a thorough forum search for fixes yet. Will do before starting valve repair. Off the cuff, looking at it, looks like belly pan needs dropping, or cut a hole, fix, then patch hole.
One way or another it will be fixed.
Getting a bucket full of splash when removing cap is just not good form.. The toilet works fine. and so is black water system.
