Not my first post, but...

I thought I would drop a quick note in here.

I am not new to RV's, however this is the first one I've owned.

New 2018 Bambi 19. I go get it Saturday.

As a first time RV-OWNER, what would you suggest is the FIRST THING I should acquire that you wished you had when you first started? And I'm not referring to the basics of RV Trailer camping.

I live in South Texas in the Austin San Antonio area for reference. So for us, the RV season is just beginning. As its too hot here in the summer for RVing for us, and if we do go, it would be to northern New Mexico a couple times of year. Otherwise it will be to State Parks in Texas in the winter months.

Beer and a wine cooler will have to work for us. But good idea.

Our first outing in it will likely be in October at a state park.

The good part is we will be in normal cellular phone range and probably have WIFI access. We plan to mostly frequent the state parks and there are a bunch of them in TX.

After getting our Airstream, we feel like we are 40 (I'm 66). You in your 40's should feel in your 60's!

I wanted something that would still be nice when I Was 60. So we went with the quality of Airstream, which should mean less in repairs and maintenance.

The other RV's will not hold up. Will fall apart, and generally don't last.

I'm OLD in personality, so the Airstream fits. The wife likes the look and the interior is just so much better than anything else on the market.

Welcome. You fit the owner profile just fine. We like to see it's skewed a bit from time to time. Hope to see your young smile down the road. Pat

I wish I had charged up my cell phone, so I could have recorded everything that was stated about the various systems by the previous owner.

Trust me, there is a lot to take in and too much to be remembered by your brain.......record everything that is stated by the dealership about your trailer and its systems.

Cheers

Make a short shakedown trip or camp in your driveway for a weekend before you take a long trip. This will familiarize you with your new unit and allow you to test all systems. Sometimes there are bugs to work out or even new batteries that have already been damaged on the dealers lot.

Prep you tow rig and generally just get comfortable with your rig. Then, post pictures and reports of your adventures.

So you know what I mean about it being too dam hot here in the summer.

We plan to make a short trip to a state park only 50 miles from the house, in october for our first outing. Nothing fancy or far away.

Same for us, I’m 43 and wife of 17 years is 38. Not typical age but we fit in well.

In my opinion there is no longer a "typical age" for Airstreamers as Airstream is marketing and advertising to younger people. Look at most of their advertising now, it shows a lot more young families and young couples. Millennials have a lot more money than older folks did when they were their age and Airstream knows that and is targeting that.

I guess I/we are kind of highjacking this thread, huh? Back to the original post...

On the WBCCI. We bought our trailer in 2015, and did not join until last year. We should have joined immediately. The rallies are so fun. Different types of rallies of course have different interests, but the breadth and depth of interests mean that there is something for everyone. From technical discussions on repairs and upgrades, to art shows, wine and food tastings, music venues...and the people we have met are wonderful.

Oh yes. Their marketing shows. And i think in general millennials are RVing for some reason. Not just airstreams.

I'm not a real social person. I like it quiet and will pick camping locations that may be less popular in general than those that draw the crowds.

I'll take a closer look at their platform and decide if i need to join.

The first major thing you may need is a good weight distributing hitch. Your dealer may recommend one. There are several good ones to choose from. Just ask anyone here on these Forums for a recommendation.

There, that ought to "highjack" this thread completely.
