No RV yet but got the urge.....
Hi All:
Just found this forum a few days ago. Saw a post about restoring an older model. I've been into maintenance on aircraft and heavy equipment for years. The post talked about rebuilding a classic MH. I like the style of the machines and camaraderie of the Airstream owners. I'm overseas in an area that doesn't do RVs or anything nice so this is a connection to the real world. One day when I get back I'm going to start my search in earnest. I'm torn between the classic MHs and the AS fifth wheels. I didn't even know they made those or toy haulers. A lot of information to be had here. Glad to be here and hope to read a lot more in the coming days.
Who knew these were so cool??
Until then, stay safe out there.
Ken

Ken, You'd be hard pressed to find a better RV "Platform" from which to remodel or build your dream RV. Good luck with your dream and welcome to this forum. Hurry home and be safe.

Welcome, and...be careful, streaming is HIGHLY addictive! Are you military, Blacktruck? We've quite a few active and retired members on the forums. Looking forward to seeing you on the road ASAP!

I'm a retired Army 1SG. Did my time and retired back in 07. Not sure what road I took to get back over here but somehow when I did retire I think I was shanghaied and sent to here. Now my travels are on the civilian plan around here.

I can see how it would be addictive. The posts about the rebuilding of these are great. As a former aircraft mechanic I can appreciate the construction of them plus I do know how to pound rivets when needed. Done more than a few over the years. Looking forward to finding one for myself one day soon. I gotta get through this and then I'm on it.
Thanks for all of the replies. I do appreciate them. Friendly enail is always good.
Thanks all.
Stay safe out there.
Ken

Other hobbies can do more harm..
Had a 5 year search for my first AS,, now have it home for the 2nd week..
Welcome too the group of rivet heads and keep your dream alive..
Many times in my life when it all looks the worst its always been my dream that kept me pushing forward and not giving up..
Be safe and get back home and trust me there is a AS with your name on it somewhere..

Thanks Sodbust and all others.
I will try to keep it focused and follow the dream. One of these days I'll find it. Doing a project like a few of these I have seen here would take diligence and patience and perseverance to see it through. It is truly a labor of love with no monetary value to most. For those that have the appreciation of classic machines, it just doesn't get better than a classic.
Thanks all.
Stay safe out there.
Ken
