Newused '05 Safari 28 owner

We picked up the trailer in Houston and made it safely back to Austin. Getting it in the driveway was the first task due to the spare tire rack (now removed) and then the front jack hitting the pavement. It takes two motions to get it in... back it as far as the load leveling hitch will go and then switch to a higher hitch to get it the rest of the way. I'm getting a receiver hitch on the front bumper installed for better maneuverability. Almost finish with the cleanout as it was dirty. It's looking much better now. Already have gone through all the nooks and crannies on the interior and equipment so I know where everything is. Hopefully we'll be ready to go in a week.

I've traveled more in other countries than the US and haven't been to any national parks except for Big Bend. I also want my children to have the Airstream adventrue as there are just too many places and not enough time! Why an Airstream... Longevity! I don't know of any fiberglass trailers from the 60s that are still on the road. Plus the "boxes" don't have a good "feel" on the interior. I also wanted better gas mileage. I wish the Airstream had a bit more ground clearance, but I've got a few ideas, some from this forum, to get a bit more.

Hi PaulAir. My wife and I just took our first trip with our 2008 16' International CCD -- from our home in Round Rock to Bastrop State Park for the Ride Through the Pines Bicycle rally in early March. It's a great park and value. $20/night with Electric, Water and Sewer hookups at pull-through camps. They are upgrading some campsites, so the availability is limited, but they do take reservations.

We enjoyed our stay, and will return to the park.
