Newport News, VA...

Hello everyone, my wife (Mary) and I (Nathan) just bought a 1972 31' Sovereign...it's pretty rough on the interior and we are planning to pretty much gut it out and re-do everything (demo has already begun..) This is the our first undertaking on something of this nature. I am a carpenter/general contractor so I'm not completely in the dark about building but this is a new area for me....We hope to have it ready to role for the fall of this year...time and money providing...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Hi Nathan,
Welcome to the forums. Lots of help here for you to fall back on. I too am a newbie to this life and will be asking questions as soon as we get our new to us old bambi (about half the size and undertaking of yours). Good luck and I'll be watching for your posts! By the way - we love to see photos - before and afters of all the steps involved!

Welcome to the forums!

Here is a link to my husband's thread on our complete restoration of our 1963 Bambi. http://www.airforums.com/forums/f36/...mbi-17925.html

It is a long thread, but he covers everything in the order he did our little restoration! Ours is only 1/2 the length of yours so your job will be a big one! Congrats and good luck on your awesome task!

Be very careful with that ladder. Pad it and only place it on the ribs (rivet lines). Dents can occur and will be very hard to remove. I would suggest free standing and have someone steady it while climbing....

Monkeyboy,

We are having our install rally in your town this fall just in time for you to use that new trailer. Many of the trailers in our unit are vintage. I'm sure any questions you may still have at that time, someone will be there that can answer it. Here's a link to our webpage. Look under rallies for the info. Good luck, hope to see ya soon.
