Arrow newcomer with 26 Argosy 1973

Hello, my name is Roman and my wife's name is Kay. We have just returned from Oberlin, OH to Norristown, PA with 1973 Argosy 26' which we just purchased. We towed it with 02 Trailblazer 4.2 litre. Came via Interstate 80 having a very smooth ride. Just this morning we had a chance to make a good inspection. While it is usable as is, we plan to renovate it from frame up this winter. This will include sandblasting and painting of the frame with the shell removed, insulating it entirerly with Prodex insulation, new floor from aluminum bonded to each side 1/2" plywood sheeting. Original color paint is to come in the Spring of 2007. Having plenty of engineering and fabricating experience it may be quite an adventure. We both look forward to getting started in mid December. We will be happy to share our pittfals and our ideas with all. We may need help finding replacement parts when we get our bearings straight. Having all original Manuals may help us great deal. Thanks, boatdoc.

I'm working on a Argy26 too!

Hi,

I'm currently working on a 26' Argy too. A 1974 model. It had a twin rear bath arrangement, but now it's been deconstructed to the point that it's cleared inside and most of the exterior is ready for blasting.

I'm at the point where I'm looking at the original floor wondering whether to take it all the way apart, or just start rebuilding from here...

A big question indeed.

Either, do it all the way now, or just start rebuilding and make it useable for the "big trip" next summer.

What to do-

Cheers!

Wow!

All these people taking their Argosy's apart. Mine is starting to shake in fear!

Welcome! Can't wait to see more Argosys online.
Post pics!

Hi and welcome to the forums. Argosy's are really cool. We (this would be the royal we..... as hubby has the bruised knuckles today), just got the bathroom out of our 24' as well as the bathroom divider wall and pocket door. Floor repairs are next!

Then plumbing, wiring, furnace, duct work, vents, gaskets, sealing, sanding, painting, upholstry, counters....

Hi, we have a 1974 Argosy 26ft and are thinking of selling it. The inside is in excellent condition with a new laminate floor. The end caps need painting. What do you think it is worth?
