Newbies just ordered a 25' Flying Cloud

Hello all!

My wife and I have taken the plunge! Yesterday we ordered a 25FB Twin from Airstream of Chicago. It's gonna be hard to wait until November!

Our plan is to take extended get-away trips in the beginning. Although we are retired, I still have some commitments that will dictate the schedule. I'm thinking an after Christmas trip to somewhere warm!

We're certainly looking forward to this new chapter!

Congratulations !!!

Now comes all of the waiting and researching.

One thing you *do* have time for is digging into tow vehicles. If you are going for a new vehicle to tow the AS, there is time to custom order one to fit your needs. It takes a bit of research to work out what you do/don't need. In general you will save enough over the "loaded" vehicle on the dealer's lot to make the hassle worth it. There is a finite amount of time to order before model change over. How much time depends a lot on what you decide you want.

There is a lot learn if this is your first AS but it's also fun learning. And of course, there are many folks willing to help in any way possible.

Congratulations on picking what I consider the best model in the line. If I were ordering a new one it would be my pick. We love our twin bed model. The twins give a longer and wider sleeping area, and so open to dress. Keep us up on your choices as you proceed to Airstream ownership.

Welcome! I am sure you will have some great trips.
I have become a naysayer. This past week I crippled myself replacing the water heater element and relay, thanks to poor AS quality and dumb design for access.
I love camping with my wife but I really hate this POS trailer for maintenance. Of course if you do not mind just taking it to a dealer and spending a few thousand every time, you will love it. I should have kept my boat, but then I could not get her to sail with me.

Larry, I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck. I used to be a mechanic, and then a design engineer. So, I have realistic expectations, I think. I am an inveterate diy'er and tinkerer, and can't wait to figure the beast out.

Kirk, sounds like you're goin in with the right attitude I've had a few trailers and they all got their own issues but being handy is just part of trailer life I think. Not that I'm that handy but I've learned what I had to over the years and have a lot more to learn too.

But also if it's a new trailer, which it sounds like it is, ya got two years of warranty and I have found it very easy to deal with warranty issues so far by having someone else do it free.

I got one more year of that but I think I'm almost ready. These airstreams are very similar to the little fiberglass trailers I owned in the past.

If you register your Air conditioner and your Frigid, you can extend them for additional 2 years.
