Smile Newbies

Hi all! Hubby retired 2 years ago and we moved from CA Silicon Valley to East Texas. Love living in our contry house but also love to travel and it was time to make it easier to do so. Our little Shih-tzu will be accompanying us along the way. To this end, we bought an '89 29' Excella. Neither the brand new nor the true vintage units most of you seem to own, so am feeling a little unsure of how we fit into the Streamer crowd.

That said, some time ago we owned a Motorhome (NOT an AS), and a lot of the stuff in there broke (switches etc.) or peeled (cabinets) after just a few years. We are just amazed that all systems in this AS still work after 18 years and that cabinetry etc are all still in very good condition. We will want to change some things and bring her up to date (80's blah right now), so we have been contemplating the changes we want to make and are looking forward to taking her on the road soon.

Sorry for the long intro... This is a great site and we will visit often!

Rita & Jim

Welcome to the Forums and welcome to Texas. Sounds like you've got a great trailer there. I know you will enjoy getting to fix it up and put your own personal touches to it. Hope to see you on the road.

Give us a call if you're ever in the neighborhood - we love to talk 'Streamin.

Jimmy & Marque

Hi Jimmy & Marque & Chester: We do indeed travel to your neck of the woods at times. Jim grew up in Comanche and we still visit with friends there. We almost moved to Stephenville when we settled in Texas but then decided on Tyler for various reasons. Loved Stephenville though! Rita.

No problem I thought the same thing being one of the younger AS people. Found out that no matter the age, background, ect youre pretty much family. Or thats at least how I have felt when meeting other Airstreamers.

To CombatMedic

Thanks again... my thinking was/is that we will enjoy our AS no matter what but that it's nice to feel included as well. It just seems that there are not many 80's owners out there or maybe I just haven't run across them... Rita.

AS year doesnt matter either I have seen a few 80s on the road and I think one of the rallies I went to in early june had a few. You should try and go to a rally sometime its a great way to expose yourself to true AS culture just dont forget your flamingos....we were teased once for being flamingo inept. It was kind of funny we did have one pitiful flamingo it was about 4-6". We are now better prepared! Hope to hear about your adventures. There are great people here to meet!
