Newbie with a 48 Liner project

Hi all, I'm new to Airstreams, over from Scottys. Found a 1948 Liner project that I will pull with my 1941 Ford panel truck. Looking forward to lots of help here on the board. Thanks! Larry in PA

Welcome to the Airforums, ScaryLarry... Sounds like an interesting project. You'll find everything Airstream here...poke around in the subforms for specific information...or ask away...somebody will have the answer...or at the minimum, and opinion!

Glas you could join in...

Welcome to the forums. When you get a chance post some photos (just click on the paperclip while you are making a post). Where is PA are you? Good luck with your project - there is plenty of information available just start asking questions. Was this the liner fro sale in Grand Junction, CO?

Thanks for the welcome. The unit was local. It's no peach, but it is mine!!
A shower/toilet will be added to the rear. Still trying to figure what we can do for a sofa bed/portable table combo. The photo was our Christmas card this past year.

Great looking combo!! Love it...I would think a stainless table would be a must in that trailer...

Is the Liner a pipe frame? I am curious as my '50 Flying cloud is and I would be interested in your plans in modernizing the trailer. Adding water holding capacity, both fresh and not so fresh, I felt the pipe frame to be inadequate. I beefed up the frame with added steel. Now I am concerned I will also now need a beefier axle. You will probably pass me up in your restoration, so please hurry so I can learn from your mistakes. Just kidding. I have made enough that I have little learning capacity left. Good luck. Keep the pictures coming.

Gene, I will post photos as I progress. I do plan to move this project along quickly this summer. I have a buddy that has redone several Airstreams (later units) but we put a plan together this past week. For the waste tanks I plan on two 20 gallon tanks and a square tubing "step up" based on top of the center round frame That will hopfully make the round tube more stable and give my tanks a solid foundation to support them a little higher from the ground. I've built some hot rod frames and hope some of that will carry over!
