Newbie introduction

Hello All,
I believe this is the correct place for the introduction. If not, I do apologize. I have been a long time Airstream admirer, but have never had the privilege of owning one. Just in the past month since I have found this site, I have learned a few things about Airstreams and it seems there is much more to read in the pre-existing threads. I just wanted to introduce myself and give a quick story. I have been looking for a travel trailer for several months. My son noticed the Airstream and instantly liked them. He was just as quickly disheartened when he saw the price of the new ones. I mentioned that we could restore one and he is all in, but wants to decorate with theme of a video game called “Fallout”. I have seen a model that have a rear bath, bunks on either side, then the kitchen and the dinette/living area in the front. I thought it was a 22’ Safari, but after seeing so many, I am not so sure anymore. That is why I am here, to learn from veteran owners and pick up some pointers and knowledge. Hope not to offend anyone about the theme. It wouldn’t be anything meant to detract from the trailer, just inside personal decorations.
Thank you for letting me join and be a part of the community.

Hi Wayne,

We're glad to have you with us and you're definitely welcome here. Your theme sounds interesting. As you referenced, there is a huge archive of material here for your perusal so dig and feel free to ask questions.

Keep us posted on your search.

Kevin

Hi and welcome! One of the beauties of restoring or renovating your trailer is that you can do what YOU want! Good luck in your search.

Welcome to the forums. There is a lot of information available here and I have found the participants to be very generous with their knowledge. If you haven't already found it, there is a website that shows all the floor plans and specifications of Airstreams since, I think, the 1940s. Fun to look at and determine what might be available and what you might want. www.airstream/service/specifications/ Give it a look. And again, welcome.

Kevin-Eljay,

Thank you for the warm welcome.

afneill,

Thank you for the welcome and the link. I know a little of what I want, but would be better to be informed before I start asking question. Everyone seems to be very kind and supportive from what I have been reading.

If not mentioned previously, rallies are another great way to see what others have done. I think there a lot of Airstream owners in Texas, maybe check out any communities in the Austin area as an example. We always end up seeing great or interesting ideas from others.

Hey, welcome! It's cool how we can all make these things something personal, and something to share with friends and family. It's all about the journey.

I gave an incorrect link yesterday. It should be
www.airstream.com/service/specifications/
Sorry for the error.

Thank you for the correction, but I figured it out last night. I have been to this site before, but never payed too much attention until now. I found that I am looking for the "twin" floor plan, I think, between the early 60's to mid 70's, and no longer than 28 feet. After spending time on the forums last night, I have come to the conclusion that I need to learn oodles more and read more before I buy one.

Thank you again.
