Newbie from Waterloo, Ontario

Hello.

Two weekends ago my husband and I (though he says it's all me) bought a 22 foot rear door 1975 Argosy Airstream. Last week we bought a tow vehicle. Next week with the generous help of friends we will have both trailer and vehicle delivered to Can-Am in London for a tow hitch to be installed.

I'm so excited! This weekend we are going to try sleeping in it while it is parked on the driveway. Then, hopefully, use it for the next few weekends before the snow falls. Keep your fingers crossed for us that the winter weather stays away.

Our main trip next year will to be to visit our daughter who went to BC and decided not to come back. Can't say I blame her as I did the same thing at her age. Joining us on our adventures will be our beloved dog, Maggie. The cats just hissed when they went inside so I assume that means they will be staying home with our other two children.

I'd love to hear from others, both newbies and those in the know.
Pauline and Sanjeev

Welcome to the forms. Hope you have a nice time in your trailer. The first night is the most memorable of all your camp outs.

Thanks! We ended up going to Inverhuron for our first trip and it was fantastic. No major glitches and the weather was perfect for a Fall weekend. I'm already planning our next trip.

Good day Pauline and Sanjeev.

That rear door 22' Argosy is one of our favourite layouts. The open concept design was way ahead of it's time. We looked at quite a few back in the early 2,000's when we were Airstream shopping.

We too have spent time at Inverhuron. We like the Lake Huron east shore area. Note Mew Lake in Algonquin is an all season park so if you don't mind the cooler weather you might give it a try this year. Also look into McGreger PP.

You should feel comfortable getting the Can Am set up. Enjoy the ride.

Congratulations

Yup, first night is interesting....what you are on is a very steep learning curve, but for the most part this is a great experience.

I think you will want to do some short trips, make certain all the mechanicals are OK, especially tires, and then the long pull to BC will be nice, provided this is done in good weather.

Any questions? Just ask on the Forum and you will get more answers than one can imagine.....and, some are actually the truth...LOL

Welcome to the forums,
You pick one of the best places in North America to have your hitch system installed. Congrats and hope to see some photos soon.

Thanks for the suggestions. Today we are off to Rondeau to enjoy the rain and snow. If next weekend is better weather we are considering your choice of Algonquin or Killbear. After that they are going to be tucked away until the spring.

Welcome aboard I'm in Kitchener and just put my girl away for the winter. Would love to see your rig.

Thanks for your welcomes. We survived the sun, rain, snow, hail, and sleet in our comfy abode. What happened to fall? Rondeau was okay but I want to take it a step further and go boondocking. Thus, next year we'll put solar panels on the Ford, and figure out some eco alternatives to dumping the tanks. I have ideas but hubby does not want to know. Unfortunately, both car and rig need to be packed away for the winter. I'm not ready to hibernate, 2 small trips and I'm ready to leave again. Here's to hoping spring comes early next year.

Take it to Florida in February. Only one night of winter camping and then it is warm.

Are you towing with a Ford Flex? If so, we saw you there at Rondeau. We were in the Airstream at the southern end of campground, site 16. We should have said hello but were enjoying our kid-free weekend and didn't get out much
