Newbie from Georgia 1987 Excella 1000 32'

Just got this a few weeks ago and am really enjoying the quality and comfort. A weeks to get ready and we were off to Oklahoma for a Western Swing Society music jamboree, camping at the state park near Wagoner,OK.

Got a lot done in a week before leaving:

-new American made Marathon tires and new shocks
-all clearance lights replaced
-Rebuilt the Moen kitchen faucet (thanks to Moen service for the help and quick parts delivery)
-new AC filters
-Hydro tested and re-certified the original aluminum tanks, new regulator and hoses, too.
-insect screens for the water heater and furnace

Thanks to forum here I have already been showered with a wealth of info!!!

Great ride to Oklahoma and got 3-3.5 miles to the gallon more with my Dodge RAM, Cummins diesel than we ever did with our 24 ft Terry (that also weighed 2000 lbs less)
Hensley hitch made for a great ride as well.

I am a retired IBEW Local 48 electrician from Oregon. I opened a business a few years back building and restoring vintage tube guitar amps. We travel a lot to music shows (most pedal steel guitar shows) and service a lot of folks amps in the country music business. We enjoy travel and working at home. Nice to be my own boss after all those years of instaaling running crews, project management, estimating and engineering systems!

A few thing on the agenda:

-replace the belly pan that fore and aft of the holding tanks
-get a regulated power supply with a separate DC distribution panel
-get the old TV antenna loosened up and working
-pull the A/C and put a new drip pan under it

Welcome and congratulations on the Airstream. Sounds like you've been busy, with much accomplished.

Glad to hear you've found this site beneficial.

Welcome and congrats! Late '80's models were good ones..

You may discover new sealing gasket under A/C is bigger factor in fixing leaks than drip pan...

If NIBCO shower valve leaks, you can get new core inserts, and owners manual has adjusting procedures...

Good luck!

In Theory, there's no difference between Theory and Practice, but in Practice, there is usually a difference...

Hey...we're from GA too.
Check the rally calendar and plan to attend Springstream in April. It is a lot of fun...and there is usually music! Plus food, demonstrations, a gift exchange, open house tours and tons of fellowship.
We missed Falluminum this sad;-(
Falluminum is the October GA rally that is just an oranger version of the April rally.
They are both held in Hiawassee, GA at the fair camp ground.
Hope to see you there!

Look forward to the Georgia rally for sure.

The AC does not leak, just the pan has cracked corners. Still I will pull the AC later and redo the gaskets at the same time. Lots to do once I get some scaffolding set up! Got to get the old antenna working, reseal the fantastic fan and any thing else that looks like it might be suspect for a future leak.

Just got in from Oklahoma and had a great trip. Got a few more parts onthe way from Out of Doors and will start ont he belly pan project soon. I have a friend who owns a HVAC business and he will have the two pieces fabricated for me very soon.

Thanks for the welcome from all of you!!
