Newbie from Arkansas

Hello all.

For eons we admired these lovely silver homes as we spotted them.

Then interestingly and suddenly one came into our lives.

Silly us thought we will clean it up a bit and be on the road.

1970 Sovereign 31 foot Land Yacht.

Well now my jack of all trades honey has it down to the Chassis and sandblasting and repainting.

No way was I going to put the grandchildren with allergies ahem....

What a task. Maybe in 2030 it shall be done.

We go back and forth in What Have We Done to Oh my, we are so excited.

It believe it or not is in really good shape.

Someone decided to put faux wood floors in it and replace the lights inside.

Working with some of the well known places to find vintage replacement parts and goal is safety and cleanliness.

I see many with all new everything but I am curious if anyone tries to put them back as original as possible?

So things like heater, wheel wells and axles, water heater etc.

Been watching here about a year or more.

The natural disasters lately are just awful and hope those here are at the most part okay. Prayers and good thoughts to all.

Supposed to be OliviaandShae but somehow the e got left off on signing up.

Welcome to the insanity of Aluminitus:

Yes, you are not alone on this site for buying a vintage Airstream and having that absolutely crazy notion that you'll be camping in it. What were you thinking.

Go easy on the unhired help, time wise, and be prepared for spending more than you thought; however with perseverance, lots of good home cooking, like peach cobbler, and the ability to go with the flow, one day maybe in the next year; or two; or three, you'll be camping in your swanky vintage Airstream trailer.........or looking for a new project for the unhired help to work on.

Cheers
Tony
