Newbie First Post

After three years of air dreaming we are beginning our air streaming adventures. Our trailer is Mas Tierra (Ms.T for short). The name uses airstream letters only and our hope is for Mas Tierra...more land, earth, country. I have been reading the forums for 3 years and the fund of knowledge contained is incredible. Thank you. We have survived the maiden voyage in our lightly used 2015 International Serenity 27 FB (1 week at Payne's Prairie State Preserve Fl). We are headed to Big Bend National Park in April for three weeks of birding, then Wyoming in August, and have a spot in the airstream group at Albuquerque New Mexico for the hot air balloon festival in October 2016. I must be dreaming..LOL. Hopefully I will make some contributions to this community as I get smarter.

Welcome to Air Forums! Sounds like you have quite the adventure(s) coming up.

We boondocked at Big Bend National Park a few years ago and loved it! Just sign-up for a remote camping permit when you arrive and the ranger will tell you which sites are available for boondocking. We were 1/2 mile off the main road in a turn-out and couldn't see anyone from our location. It's not for everyone but it sure worked for us.

Lot's to do and see in nearby Terlingua, TX and some of the surrounding areas like Marfa. Be sure to check out the Prada "store" north of Marfa. Also had a great time north of Big Bend in Alpine.

We're headed to Wyoming in August too. Maybe we'll cross paths.

See Ya Down the Road!

Ambitious plans for a maiden voyage! Good luck and safe travels to you. If you join the Airstream Club, you will find hundreds of friends along the way. These are folks who will offer friendship, overnight parking for free, advice, or a hand when problems arise. See www.wbcci.org for more information. 5809 will be looking for you!

Welcome. Some great things in the Big Bend area. Just a word of warning, don't camp alone. Make sure there are others around.

Thanks for hearty welcome. Only the first maiden voyage was solo. Big Bend is group of three experienced campers. Wyoming will been in a group with wise, tempered, experienced boondocker professors.
At least they claim to have experience. Lol

Welcome to posting. Now you can both share your experiences and reach out for help on questions that have you stumped. It's a great approach to share early adventures with experienced folks and buying used certainly helped to maximized your purchase value. Sounds like a great start. The Balloon Fest will make for some fantastic memories.

Travel safe and enjoy the smiles as you make the miles. Pat

Mas Tierra, you will be in good hands under Ray's tutelage. He and Nancy have been doing this and sharing what they have learned for a long while. Go and have a great time. Evelyn.

OK. Here we go. First Newbie question fir Airforums. I don't mean to raise a frequently debated topic but.....lets just say someone ALREADY bought 16 inch Michelin LT tires on Sendel T-03 rims. How does one modify the spare tire "cage/holder" to accept the larger diameter spare tire OTHER than under-inflating the spare tire. Thanks.

Mas-

Tell that "someone you know" that may have bought 16" Michelins on new wheels that I have read on AirForums before that the tire carrier arms can be bent slightly to accommodate the 16" spare.

ShinyPete: TY. I did remove a 16 inch Michelin from my friends classic and placed it on my trailer to assure myself it would fit in the tire well of my 2015 27 International. It did. We used his spare and the only way we got his spare back in the carrier was to deflate tire. Will look at carrier and see if I can do this.
PS: should my question have been posted in another forum like tires brakes etc?
