Newbie bought an Airstream!!

Hey All!

I am very excited to announce that I am the new, proud owner of a 1974 Land Yacht Tradewind! I just bought it yesterday afternoon!

It appears to be in great shape. Needs a thorough cleaning on the inside.

My immediate plan is to get it home, excavate all the odds and ends that are currently stuffed in it, clean, clean and clean some more!

I'd been looking for almost 2 months and this one by far is the best I'd seen in my price range.

After getting it cleaned up, and everything in operable condition, I will stock it and move to Texas and will be living in it full-time. (In one place, not touring.)

I'm not planning a Restoration, instead I will be updating and customizing for my needs/tastes.

I know I will have lots of questions and have already learned so much about Airstreams and RV'ing in general by reading this site.

I feel I need a class to learn all about how to operate and maintain my new home.

Just wanted to crow about the fact that I just bought a home! I own my own home again, after years of renting. Yay!

Thanks Kevin,
Gave it a thorough exterior wash today. It cleaned up beautifully! However, water leaked in around the tv antenna opening. the antenna had been left in the up position for at least 2 years. I'm hoping we created the leak when we lowered it for towing. I will remove the antenna and seal the opening.

started excavating the interior too, even though it was getting dark and i was on my last legs for the day.

thanks again for responding!

Howdy and to Airforums! And congratulations on your new-to-you trailer!

I wouldn't be in a big rush to start taking things off your trailer before you have a really good chance to understand everything. For example, that antenna will allow you to pick up digital TV signals, the free "off the air" ones.

Have fun!
