Your
1962 coach may not have any coating on its skin as PlastiCoat was an option in
1962 that wasn't applied to all coaches. Even if this optional coating was applied to your coach, the likelihood is that it has disappeared from all but the most protected areas. One of the tests for the existence of Plasticoat was to utilized a light color rag and rub toothpaste into the surface . . . it the rag turns black, there is no PlastiCoat present. If Plasticoat is present, there are a number of threads on the Forums about stripping the coating . . . most suggesting either Citris-Strippers or Aircraft Strippers. My suggestion would be to be cautious about utilizing strippers if your coach doesn't have an extensive presence of Plasticoat as the harsher chemical strippers also remove products utilized to seal seams and openings.
Good luck with your coach!
