Newbie -- 77 Sovereign

Hello, everyone! We have been looking for an Airstream for several months now, and just purchased a 1977 Airstream International Sovereign 31' two weeks ago! We still have plenty of work to do on it, but we love it already, and so do our kids! We plan to use it as our home base when my husband goes hunting for the weekend, or just to take off in when the kids are out of school. We have been to the Greek Islands, Germany, Italy, etc. and now we just want to spend the next several years exploring what our own country has to offer!

Thanks, everyone, for the encouragement! I have added our "before" pictures to the gallery, so now I just need to come up with the airstream's new name!

Welcome!
If you want to see what your's looks like gutted, just look at mine. I call mine IRA + Savings Account, because that's what it replaced.

I've replaced all the fixtures except the refrigerator (that's next), so far. Whoever gets this when I'm none will get a new old trailer.

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.

Hi from your neighbor

About six months ago I let my mouth overload my --- and bought a 1976 Sovereign. At first wondered what I did. Now it's lots of fun seeing how it has changed. In the process of new axels, wheels, brakes, centramatic, shocks. Around the house is" do you go to Lowes every day". I hope to be to a slow down stage around Christmas and start using it.There is no end. I'm hopeful as I have reservations with all my Grandkids to Fort Wilderness in Feburary. I'm I Cherokee Co. Just down the road If you need to vent. You made a good decision.

Judging by your pics, you have your work cut out for you. Although I must say the interior looks pretty good. I'm interested to see what you will do with your shower door. My door is cracked at the top but is still serviceable. Yours looks like it became so brittle it cracked right off. The exterior looks pretty straight. You will want to address the rust on your A-frame. A good polish and the skin will look better than new. All it takes is time and money. Before too long you will have a sharp looking rig. I look forward to reading your future posts.
