newbie/64 Overlander

Greetings and Salutations

I bought a 1964 Overlander International 1 week ago and what a week it's been! I've been off work this week but spent it working on the AS. Lots and lots to learn and looks like this forum will be a great place to learn more and share what I can.

Hi and welcome to the forums.
I have a '64 Safari. Great year for vintage aluminum!
Congrats on the purchase.

My 1964 Overlander chose me back in 1995, but I first met it when it was new in 1964. I am certain that your coach will provide many years and hours of enjoyment! Two features appeared for the last time in 1964, and they are part of the reason that I enjoy my coach so much -- the door-within-a-door, and the jalousie windows next to the door. You may be the recipient of good fortune if your coach still had its original owners manual as this was the first year that Airstream published and included an owners manual with the coach. (Airstream didn't begin publishing factory service manuals until the early/mid-1970s.

Good luck with your coach!

Congrats!

I just bought a 1960 Overlander several weeks ago. They sure will keep you busy. Be ready to buy some upgrades. I am picking up a converter, hotwater heater and other stuff today. I have been removing the linoleum floor. So far I found that a heat gun and multi tool which uses vibration to lift and cut the tile works the best.

Ours has become a family affair. The wife is removing all the cabinet doors and brass. She is refinishing all the wood and restoring the brass. My son is doing the heavy grunt work and I am doing the floor removal because it is time consuming and you need to stay focused.

Make it fun and enjoy. I find the trailer project a release from work stress.

hi fellow Ohioan

Welcome to the forums!
I have to get out the map and find out where Cortland is, but you should know that there are quite a few active members right here in OHIO!! We gather often and have fun at little mini campground and driveway rallies!
This weekend some of us are going to be meeting at Findley State Park. Our only daughter got married yesterday and we are having a Honeymoon Rally there. Join us if you have time. There will be at least 4 trailers there that are Airstreams. If you can't come out and camp you can join us for the potluck on Sat. about 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome!
Lou
