Hi everyone! We purchased a
1967 Safari last weekend and are slowly making the to do list and prioritizing it. We have some questions and I'm sure we'll have lots more as this adventure continues!
First off, I need to make StellAluminum's (yeap, that's her name) watertight. We plan to place an order today for some windows and parts. Has anyone come up with a replacement part that works for this?
We think we've found something, but I wondered if someone else had something even better. Also, what types of caulk should I use? I'm sure I need to do the vents and hoods. And finally, there is this black weather stripping (probably original because its dried on hard). How do I remove that and what should I use in its place?
I'm also starting to think about the "fun" work for future....curtains - I like to sew. The original curtain rods are there, at least the ones curtains would hang from. For some reason, I'm thinking there should be another rod at the bottom of the windows. I don't know what that rod should look like. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks so much for your help. This adventure begins!
