I was researching here and thought it might be about time I joined.
We have had our 2005 22' safari since 2007. It's a FB with a J kitchen in the
back.
The first summer we spent in it we realized we needed to change things around. We started with turning the corner bed into a wall hugger futon across
the front.
We turned the unusable dinette (the wheel well took half the leg space) into an
L shaped lounge with a small pluggable table in front. When the bed is a couch
there is also a popup table available at each end.
The net effect is that we have a very nice living area, and a bed that is easy to
use.
The bathroom sink moved out of the bathroom. The bathroom now has a tiled shower stall and a composting toilet.
All lighting is now LED with dimmers. My wife did all the upholstery. The floor is cork, all the cabinetry is cherry and maple. We replaced all of the polyester carpet 'wallpaper' with 1/4" natural wool felt.
I also wired it for solar panels while I was at it. The only thing left is to get the
panels.
We are currently debating if we need the big overhead since we already have more storage than we started with.
We have the kitchen and some bathroom work left. We've been doing it a little at a time as we go. Figuring out what works and what doesn't.
We love our little airstream but sometimes pine for another foot or two.
The first few years our TV was a 97 F-150 4.6L. But we switched to using our 2010 VW jetta tdi 3 years ago. We can still use the F-150 but it can't compare to the jetta in any way. So I don't use it unless I have to.
With the Jetta we stop quicker and are less affected by winds. Going up and down the mountains is easier and better too. Not to mention the 25 mpg.
I'll have to look around for some pics. I haven't taken any lately.
I'm currently in the midst of another round of remodeling so it's a bit
of a mess at the moment.
The composting toilet is nice. I tend to think of it
as a waste management system. The end product is pretty easy to
deal with.
