New to the Forum not to Airstream

We were the proud owners of a 2004 30’ Classic with S/O and disc brakes. In August, in a fit of insanity, we traded it in for a 2018 30’ Classic (no S/O, no disc brakes). In our 59 years of marriage it was the most frivolous purchase we’ve ever made. It is hi-tech and beautiful to behold but we miss our old trailer a lot. So many new-fangled stuff to learn how to work.

In our first trip out with it the Alde was leaking water like a sieve. (It had to do with water pressure) It also went berserk and would not turn off. (It was 90 degrees outside). It was an hilarious sight, I suppose, to see me under the sink, talking to the tech at our dealer, trying to follow his instructions for turning it off. I finally succeeded.

Our second trip out was to test our new Dish Wally, installed permanently by our dealer. We were all set to watch the final game of the World Series but discovered the only tv that worked was in the bedroom. So my husband and I raised the bed, poured a glass of wine and enjoyed the game.

Now in our 3rd trip (for 5 weeks) after our dealer did a software update on the Firefly control panels, adjusted the Alde, and a couple other repairs, both TVs work, the Alde occasionally won’t turn off and we have yet to try the AC.

Just a note, we had very few issues with our 2004. Nothing like we are experiencing with the 2018.

Welcome. We have a 2006 Classic 30' and except for a cantankerous fridge have had pretty good luck. New Rv's are like houses. There are always problems to work out. The new Classics are beautiful and I would bet you will grow to love it quickly. If you don't, I would be glad to trade!!!

Welcome to Air Forums from Colorado: Our 1986 Limited is also a Classic. The Limited name is just an interior upgrade. We always have had a problem or two to solve with our trailer. It's part of the fun for me. Your new Classic is the top of the line. It is quite complex. Don't be discouraged with a problem or two. Jump in and see if you can figure it out. Heck, we don't even have a TV in our trailer. We have no need for one. I total waste of time for me. So if it didn't work, I'd simply remove it and use the space for something else.

Fellow participants on these Forums will likely be able to help with this or that on your new Classic.

"Infancy" problems are not that unusual. Airstreams are almost all hand assembled and it's just one of issues new owners go through. (My observation)

Our experience has been that Airstream stands behind their 2-year warranty and will get the 'kinks' worked out.

Firstly, you've got a great attitude. Probably a key part of what has kept you and your spouse together for so many decades! Secondly, once you have the kinks worked out on the new trailer I bet you won't have the slightest desire to go back to the old trailer. That new one you have is gorgeous! Thirdly, being frivolous once in a while sounds healthy, indeed! You've worked hard for it. Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum and on your new Classic. We also shared that same insanity last year and bought the same model. With the firefly update make sure they checked the pin out on the G6 panel.Click image for larger version

I think they changed the whole panel on the firefly. We have a different screen for the “temperature “ icon than we had before. Not sure about the pin.

That's correct, I changed out the Firefly myself and did the GUI and Logic Controller update to ver. 3.3 with the help of Firefly Tech. Afterward things started acting up so I found out that AS had the pin out wrong on this connection. Haven't used it a lot since so hoping for the best when we do. Good luck and safe travels!
