Red face New to the AirStream Community

Hello all. Until a few weeks ago, I couldn't tell you what an Airstream is, other than one of those silver cans going down the road. But then I became the proud owner of a 1977 27-footer that was in bad need of a little TLC. So I have been diligently working to learn everything I can in order to clean the old girl up, fix her up and get her road worthy. My wife and I along with our youngest son (still in high school and yet to fly the coop) reside on and work a small family farm in Southeastern Idaho, along with my paying job with State Emergency Management. The trailer project has become a very fun diversion. I have read with great interest the AirForums posts, many of which have answered perplexing questions for me. I look forward to becoming a part of the Airstream and "AirForums" community. Since I am a real "newby" you all will most likely be hearing cries for help from the mountains of Idaho.

Hey Ken...a belated welcome to the Airforums from a long-time-ago Idaho boy...raised in Meridian, ID near Boise a million years ago (it seems)...

You are in the very best possible forum to find information as you launch yourself into the wacky (but happy) world of Airstreaming, and in particular, refurbishing your AS...go boldly forward...where, unlike Startrek, many have been there before you. The good thing is that they will be happy to share their knowledge and excitement...and deliver moral support when needed or requested...

So welcome, and many happy hours with your Airstream...

TB

Welcome to the forums!

This is the place to learn and find all things Airstream! Please post some pictures, we love pictures here!

My hubby did a total frame off restoration on our little 63 Bambi. He posted lots of pictures and info while doing the work. Here is a link to his thread, may answer questions in the future if you take a look.

Thanks all for the warm welcome to the forum. The restoration project is slow but fun. I've been away for a while due to job requirements but plan to get back at it. I just posted a couple of photos on the member pics area. My jewel in the rough has some skin damage on the front from a falling tree aparently sometime in its past life, but I'm going to wait for warmer weather for that repair. It had a poorly installed apartment fridge (AC only) so I just completed removing that and installing a Dometic AC/gas. Building the cabinetry and vent work was fun! The smaller RV fridge allowed for installation of a microwave and storage space. Kind of fun
