Talking New to it and eat up with it

Hi everyone, my name is Kani (pronounced like Connie or kahnee) This is my first post to the board and a new owner of a 76' 31' Sovereign with rear Bath.

My husband and I pull it with my Chev. Tahoe. We use an equilizer hitch which broke my finger our first time out. Well. . . .I guess "I" . . .broke my finger learning how to use this piece of equipment. We live . . we learn and I say a day that goes by without learning something new is a day lost! I learned a LOT THAT day.

We bought her on ebay on a friday and picked it up the next evening. We couldn't wait. The owner met us halfway (we live near Branson Mo. and he lives in Parsons Kansas) and helped us set up the rig and get the lights working. Real nice guy. He didn't even charge us for it which is nice.

When we got home I realized why he didn't charge us anything. There was 10 55 gallon bags of trash hidden in that sweet trailer. YUCK!

I had her checked out at a local RV service and repair. She checked out great. The only thing we had to do was put in a new water pump which he told us about and I had them check and grease the axle and pack the bearings. We also found out the tires that were on the A.S. were 2ply passenger tires!. . . If I had known that I wouldn't have driven 80 on the way home!

Which brings me to the pulling of the A.S. It pulls like a dream! I don't even know it's back there unless we are on a few of the LONGGGG hills on the way to branson. We are very impressed with our Camper.

We went camping at a horse camp not far from our home and joined our friends for riding, fellowship, fire and camp coffee. They were really impressed with the amount of room we have and we were quite comfortable.

One more thing. . .how long does it take you guy's hook up, load up and get gone? It took us forever!

Kani

PS. For those of you that have what I call "lava lamp windows" in your A.S I have a tip for you. We are using a product we bought at Lowes. It is a Smoke window tint that goes on the OUTSIDE of the windows and holds by static cling. It works GREAT and stays on VERY well. It gives the windows the dark tint look and you can't see the lava lamp bubbles. It really helped the looks and we didn't have to break any windows. We got the look we were looking for for $12 a roll.

Kani,

Welcome to the Airforums, and may each day bring more learning experiences.

Hopefully less painful.

I just bought a Tahoe for my 24' Tradewind. I haven't towed it very far yet, but it's good to hear you are having good luck with yours.

I let the magic smoke out of my new Intellipower converter. Pays to watch the battery polarity. Another lesson learned.

Thank you for the welcome Mark.

I think you'll LOVE the Tahoe for pulling, storage and comfort.
Good choice man!

Kani,
I bought a '77 31' Excella 500 off ebay that a gentleman from AZ. had put on there. I drove all the way from TN. to AZ. and back in 3 days by myself. I sure wish I had taken my camera and spent at least 3 additional days looking as sights on the way back. Outside Waco, TX. I blew a tire and, like you, the trailer was running on passenger tires. I limped into a Discount Tire on 3 tires and had them put on 4 new load range D Carlisle tires after I bent the outrigger behind the blown tire back down. I later repaired the damage with sheet aluminum. That trailer is now somewhere in Germany but I am enjoying my '86 Sovereign 25' to the fullest. I'm sure you will enjoy your trailer just as much as I have mine.
