New to both Airstream and RVing

Hello all,

As the title suggests, my wife and I are Airstream and RV first timers. Along with Rex, our Sheltie, we live in NE Ohio and have purchased a pre-loved, 26U, Flying Cloud from Northern CA. This adventure is a dream-come-true for us. Our ultimate goal is to find a warm place to nest in the winters, and venture across all of the lower 48 states. As exciting as seeing our country may be, experiencing has taught us that the beauty of the land pales in comparison to the people you meet along the way. We hope to meet and make many new friends. For the next couple years, our adventures will be somewhat limited by my work, in the airline/overnight express industry. But retirement is fast approaching.

If anyone has suggestions on places to stay in the Tampa FL area, please let me know. We are late to the game, but hope to find a vacancy for this coming February and March. If you see a white Ram 1500 diesel pulling a 26 Flying Cloud, please stop by and share your story. Well have a hot or cold beverage waiting for you.

Bits (Jack) and Kiblz (Stephanie)

Hello from Colorado and welcome to the Airstream community. I bet you will enjoy traveling in your new trailer. We enjoy it very much.

We took a trip to the southwest part of the country last spring. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate; way too hot and windy. Dust storms and the like. We did enjoy our few nights in Tuscon. We stayed at one of those luxury RV resorts the many snowbirds like. It was nice, but again too hot. We did meet some very nice folks there which make it extra special.

Here we are outside of Las Wages. The picture sorta reflects the heat we had:

Welcome to the Airstream World

We lived in Naples, Florida for 13 years before moving to North Carolina 4 years ago.. We know the pleasure of warm winters. Tampa is great area, but I am not versed on good places to RV winter there. However, if you are open to suggestions, you may want to consider Land Yacht Harbor in Melbourne, Florida. Yes, it is on the east coast and we were a bit unsure about how we would like it. Well, LYH is a great AIRSTREAM ONLY (well, mostly) park. 300 spots. (250 devoted to Airstreams, there are some SOB's there) NO children, NO pets, over 50, Retired. Extremely clean! We spent 2 weeks there in Dec, 2017. We are spending 4 months there starting 1 Dec. 2018. Extremely reasonable rates. Check it out. There is a short video on YouTube about it. I have been to a few other Airstream Only parks. This one is probably the best kept, well laid out, and most friendly. Glad to have you aboard for your Airstream Adventures.
