New to Airstreams in Pittsburgh, PA

My wife and I are new to Airstreams. Recently purchased our first one; a Safari 19 ft. We have not had a travel trailer before, although we camped out when kids were young. So we are quite green. Looking for classes or seminars, etc. in Pittsburgh area that are for beginners.

Also looking for potential winter storage locations.

I hear there are some pretty good self study courses right up the street from you in the state park! Just get out in it a couple of time!

I would point your to Penn Wood Airstream park for next year. Tons of help available there.

Or, if you feel like seeing a real football city, come visit the Cleveland area. We generally can have a great potluck and pass along good advice whenever! Just shoot me an email or PM

Welcome to Alumaholics Annonymous! You will enjoy your Airstream. As mentioned earlier, Pennwood is a great park, for the Airstream crowd. Find more wonderful people near you, who can offer much information and help with any situations which may arise by joining the Airstream Owners Club at www.wbcci.org. Meanwhile, 5809 will be looking for you on the road!

I had not owned a trailer until July, but has also camped as a kid.

Honestly, a month of two of obsessive AS forum reading is all you need to be prepared.

Read the owners manual for the AS.

Look on Youtube for videos on how others do various tasks: hitching, unhitching, hooking up components, water, leveling, using the shower and toilets, dumping, storage, water heater, propane, using the awning, and then do some note-taking and don't do anything until you understand why you are doing it.

Then try to find an easy couple of places to camp with level sites that are somewhat close to home. And allow a lot of extra time to do things while you are figuring it all out.

It's a blast!

Welcome aboard!

Check out "Long Long Honeymoon" on Youtube... they are honest about their 'experience', especially when it might save you some serious trouble/damage.

Here, try this: https://youtu.be/gjTGvA2MZmk
