New to Airstreams... but loving it!

We just bought a 1959 Tradewind. It is gorgeous nearly all original inside and out. It is like time capsule! It has been garaged most of its life! We are lucky that it is in great shape and needs very little repair. We are excited to be part of this community though because we have never owned anything like this. We have always loved Airstreams but know so little. We consider the Airstream a big piece of sculpture going down the highway! Excited to learn more! Kathy

Thanks for the kind welcome! I have been trying to post pix the last couple of days, but it would only take the last one in the batch...don't know what I am doing wrong. I put several up this morning, one post at a time on the 1959 postings. Sorry to be technologically challenged!
Kathy

Your 59 Trade Wind is fairly rare because Airstream made very few tandum axle 24 foot. Wally's 22 foot gold airstream he took on the African caravan had two torsion axles. I assume yours are leaf spring axles.

Nice find. Enjoy.

Trying again to post some pix. Hope these show up. I think my problem was I was trying to work from my ipad, and I wasn't getting the proper links. Here goes! Here are some exterior shots.
Thanks for all of the kind wishes!

Pix of my 1959 Tradewind

Yea! It worked! Here are some interior photos. We think she is a beauty! Everything seems to be in really good shape and mostly original. I know the previous owner added the AC, the laminate floor, redid the water lines, and added an electric refrigerator. All of the cabinetry, stove, light fixtures, room dividers, etc. seem to be original and in good shape. We feel very fortunate to have found one from the 50's that spent most of its life in a garage!

Now that a real keeper! They are only original once; you are now the custodian of a relic of history; kind of like those who own the old war birds who consider themselves custodians of history to be maintained as is and passed on.
