New to Airstream

Hi all, I just found this form and it has been a God send! I decided to buy an airstream after I called it quits on repairing my Dad's '73 Coachman. I quickly figured out an '85-95' Accela was probably what I was looking for, price-wise, I have a family of five but one is in college and won't be camping much. I quickly realized I did not know what to ask-this form has helped that! Now I am looking for a tow vehicle, guessing I need an Excursion v-10 or a 2500 Suburban. That is where I am, gaining info like a sponge!

Smile Welcome

Hello and welcome! I to just joined this forum 2 weeks ago. There is a wealth of information on here ,so you came to the right place. I have a 31 ft airstream and I am currently looking for a tow vehicle myself. I really want a Ford Excursion but the Suburbans seem to have a higher towing capacity and the seem to be the most favored tow vehicle on here. Good luck and I'm sure some experts will chime in on the Tow vehicle. Do you know the weight of the trailer your are looking at? The Excella is a different model than my soverign and might weigh more. It is better to have a tow vehicle that is too big than one that just meets the weight requirement. You need to figure in the weight of your stuff as well as if you will be driving a lot of hills.

This document has the weights of most trailers. These are dry weights and your going down the road loaded will be higher.
