Hi everyone -
We are newish owners of a 31' Excella 1985 (bought last summer) and are looking at replacing the gaucho couch, which is looking worn out.
Am on the fence: replace w/ new couch or re-upholster? Love any advice/thoughts/best practices.
we had ours re-upholstered. about $450 and up depending upon fabric. we used a brown leather grained vinyl because we have a dog that sheds. One thing, if the front for the drawer is osb replace it with a 3/4 inch piece of plywood before you re-upholster it. I had a devil of a time getting the drawer front re-attached because the osb would not hold screws. I am not sure how you would "just replace" the sofa? Have seen people use 2 reclining chairs instead, but I like having the bed in case we need it and the drawer for storage. when you take it out is a good time to check the front floor area for leaks and rot, particularly if you have the "vista" windows.
Re-upholstery is the only way to go. We have had 3 done on different units and have been very pleased with each one. Make sure extra foam is added if necessary.
