New Safari Owner

Hi to the Group!

I just bought a 2007 28' Safari SE/LS from Airstream of Arkansas. Image that, I live in Fresno, CA. I have been looking for the right AS for my wife and I for almost 14 months and finally discovered it in Arkansas. That is one that fit my budget! I will be towing it with a 2005 GMC 2500HD Disel. We will pick it up the end of February when we hope the weather will be nice through Texas and New Mexico. I have not towed anything like this before, so we will have a learning adventure with this trip. I look forward to learning a lot from the forums. I really enjoyed the forum that used to be up on the Airstream web sit. Hope all of you have fun traveling with your AS!

Nice set up

What a great way to learn about your new Airstream...bringing her home from afar. My suggestion..read,read,and read the forum threads and ask any question that comes up, you will be suprised on how ready you will be by the time you pick up your baby. And by the time you reach home, you will be a confident streamer.

Congrats Jim! You'll be hitting early spring in Texas. Watch your forecasts and hunker down if the passes are not clean and dry as you head west. You've got a well matched tow vehicle & Airstream! We'll promise to answer questions if you'll post photos of the trip home.

Congrats on the new rig. I think I saw your trailer when I was there recently (I've bought 2 from AS of Ark, good folks), very nice. I tow with a 2006 Chev 2500 diesel. My truck only has 12,000 miles on it so my mpg is only about 13 at 65 mph. Hoping it will improve! Enjoy.

Welcome! especially to another 2007 Safari SE/LS owner

Seems I've been seeing a lot of 2007 Safari SE/LS posts...maybe it's going to be one of the more popular models?

Well, I guess we all need pictures to complete our warm-fuzzy about your new coach!

Cheers,
-jd.

Thanks for all the good words and as we head back I will post pictures when I can. I am leaving extra time just in case the weather fails to cooperate. It looks like we will make the trip the first two weeks in March due to my wifes vacation schedule.

Thanks!

Jim,
Congrats on your Safari purchase. We bought our '06 Safari from AS of AR also. Gene (sales mgr) will give you a great run through on the trailer and will answer all your questions. The shop guys will fully educate you on the proper hook-up procedure. Additionally, there is a campground near-by that you may elect to spend a night 'learning' your new Safari (free, of course). That way, you can go back to the shop the next day and get any questions cleared up before you head back west.
Enjoy!

Pretty!

Jim, let me add my congrats and welcome. We bought our 23' Safari LS/SE in November and picked it up in December. I second SCOTTW's recommendation to spend the first night nearby. We spent ours close by a Camping World, Target, Wal*Mart, etc. in-case we forgot anything. Didn't realize how much we needed that we didn't think of, or what was in the starter kit that was junk (like the sewer hose). Didn't have to return to the dealer, but it was a comfort knowing we weren't that far away.

Thanks for the good ideas. We plan on staying at the dealer or camp near by for a couple of days to try everything out. I will watch out for the sewer hose. Maybe I will bring my own. (ha,ha)

Take your time and enjoy your new Airstream. You've got a great TV and should have no problems at all.

Hey Jim,

Thanks for the nice words...we try our best to make you feel as comfortable as we can when you purchase a unit from us at A/S of Ark. Jim, I am looking forward to seeing you a Jean soon.

Happy Streaming!
