Smile New owners of a 2012 27' International

Very excited to join this forum but more excited to tell the story of how we acquired our brand spanking new 27' International Signature edition.

About 18 months ago we bought a 19.5' Roadtrek SS Agile, the short version of what Airstream sells on the Sprinter Van platform. This last August the two of us set out on a multi-month tour of the U.S. and Canada.

After about 90 days and nights of sleeping in the van we started to get serious Airstream envy, waking up each morning to strip the bed, put the sheets up and fold up the sofa got old. Not to mention setting up the bed each night, getting the sheets out etc. Combine that with using RV park, state park and county park showers these two senior citizens were ready for more room.

We'd already stopped at a couple of Airstream dealers on our travels when our trip took us to Gulfport, Mississippi and the door of a almost new dealer, Foley RV and Airstream of Mississippi. After falling in love with the International the dealer made us an offer we could not refuse. Our Roadtrek for his new 2012 27' International - DONE!

We then walked next door and bought a Chevy 2500HD 4X4 and a hitch and this morning we're in San Antonio headed for home in California.

Other than being scared to death of having to back in to a tight spot the two of us are ecstatic. The Airstream is what we've always wanted in space, amenities and most of all the joy of actually owning an Airstream. We did not look at any other brand of travel trailer - for us it was Airstream or nothing.

Hoping to learn from the rest of you and can't wait to dig into the rest of this forum.

After the Agile you will need a GPS to find your way around in the 27 footer. Good move, but those class B MHs do have some plusses. Good luck, jim

Welcome to the forums! Good story. Don't worry about the backing up part. Just find a large empty parking lot and while it is empty (no witnesses) and practice backing into some spaces. Just pretend the stripes are walls, ha.

The room in the larger rigs is great.

Regards,

Mark and Dixie - welcome to the world of alumunum! We've had our 27FB for just over a year, and are loving it! The only significant problem we've had is finding more time to travel in it!

This weekend, though, will find us on the Sonoma coast...

Welcome neighbor,

Welcome to the Forums and welcome to the joys of Airstream ownership...you'll love that model..and don't worry about the backing up thing...we've all been there...it's just a matter of practice...and taking it slow and carefully...before long you'll be pros.

Mark & Dixie-

Congratulations on decision to "Step Up" and join crowd of alumaholics... Sounds like a great adventure trip so far, and more to come.. Our photo taken at Lake Louise Provincial Park, and we had a fabulous time on trip through Canadian Rockies and Glacier National Park on way to Oshkosh a few years ago.. If you are able to travel several months a year, you are going to have a blast...

Wanted to pass along several features of website... You can search for older threads using search tab above, and find out a lot of amazing things, many of which are actually facts.. In addition, I encourage you to try some of the "Forum Rallies" like the spring trip in northern Calif to the Russian River in April, or back to Jackson Rancheria next October.. The southern Calif Forum group also does 3 or 4 rallies a year (fancy word for long relaxed weekend at an interesting place with 50 or more new friends...).

Beautiful - this is msdixie, xo1rider's wife. We have done that drive multiple times in our Roadtrek - looking forward it in the Airstream (Bertha). Do you take Hwy 1? How does it handle on windy road?

Hi msdixie, this time we are headed out to Bodega Bay via the back roads from Cotati. But we've been on hwy 1 near big sur. The rig has handled well in all conditions...

Enjoy your adventure!
