New Owner (soon)

Hello All! Great forum you are running here!

I am looking to purchase my first Airstream in the next couple of months. I still havent decided on exactly WHICH one I'll end up with, but likely a 22 or 23' late model. I'll be pulling it with my 2007 standard cab Tundra.

I look forward to reading all of the great information on this site. Any tips or reccomendations are appreciated.

Welcome

Good luck w/ the search. Some folks buy newer, some older. The good thing about an older (vintage) is you get to have all the fun involved in a rehab. You also have a little more say so in the design and decor as you often will be replacing both. The great thing about a late model is they are ready to go as soon as you get them. Whatever the case there is a wealth of A S knowhow here for all models and styles.

Enjoy.

To add a wrinkle to the old vs new debate, let me through another thought in: middleaged. Going for an '80s to '90s model, you're going to get a model that hasn't been through the british invasion, LBJ, and disco, but also has had time for the little niggling junk to be worked out. Look at the new owners problems listed on this board and you'll know what I mean. And you can get a unit in pretty good shape, with a LOT of miles left on it, for less than half, sometimes way less than half, what new ones are going for.

First trip to the AS dealer today!

Thanks for the welcome so far!

Well, I spent a great deal of time at the local Airstream dealer, and most of that time sitting in a 2007, 23' Safari. Both my wife and I really liked it, and it seemed to be plenty of room for us both. The dealer came down about 20% from the MSRP once all incentives were added in. I'm still a bit apprehensive at taking such a big leap.

I've searched for used models a few years old on the internet, but those I've found in my lenght, tow weight range seem to be only 10K or so less than this new model. Older models I've run accross seem to have gone quickly.

I am planning on living in this AS for about 9 months while in school in Texas so its got to be the right fit and still be affordable.

Still searching.......
