New Owner in West Virginia

Howdy!

Yesterday I purchased not only my first Airstream, but my first RV. I might have made a huge mistake, but I have always wanted one, and now I have one. Or to be more correct, I have paid for one that is still sitting on the previous owner's lot. I plan to go up next weekend and pull the wheels, check the bearings, and go have new tires put on. Then we shall see if we can get her home. I think her name is Frances. I plan to document the process extremely well, and will post as much as I can. No matter what happens, I'm excited, and I think this will be a lot of fun. I will be happy to receive any advice you folks have for me, and will try not to butcher this beauty too badly.

TJ

Welcome W.V. Stream (there are a lot of streams in WV)! Originally from So OH, I have a very good friend in Charleston.

We like lots of pictures here on the forum and look forward to your journey.

Welcome to the forums. There is a ton of useful info about older Airstreams on this site and we all love to see photos of projects in progress.

W.V. Stream, Welcome to the forum, I am from Wetzel Co WV about 130 miles straight north of you. I have been living in Canada for about 10 years. You will find a lot of help if you run into any trouble working on your trailer.

Thanks so much for the kind welcome. WV folks always stick together, and I would venture that the ones that are part of the Airstream community are even closer. One of my hobbies is photography, and another is freelance writing, so I plan to do a detailed blog on this rebuild. Hang in there with me folks, it's gonna be a bumpy ride! ( I think the axles need replaced.)

Congrats on the Amby TJ.

We'll look for progress reports on the "Travels and Adventures" of Frances.

Good Morning .... As the wife of Happycampers, I must say that John Denver's song says it all. The people and the State are wonderful. Feels like my second home. Safe travels. Never tire of camping and visiting with family and friends there.

TJ.
good luck with the new project. It is a fun learning curve.
You live in a great part of the state. We have camped in the Below Dam campground there several times. Over the years we have rafted both the Gauley and New Rivers and rappelled off the bridge on bridge day.
We have spent every labor day weekend for years at a cavers reunion in Dailey, wv near Elkins and always look forward to visiting West Va.

Welcome, WV!! We're starting this adventure at about the same time and with AS trailers that are about the same age. We had to wait a couple weeks to bring ours home, too. But now that she's home, every time I look at her I find something else that needs some "attention". But every time I find something to repair or replace, I find the answers and sources right on these forums. Great bunch. You've definitely come to the right place.
I'll watch your progress with much interest.
