New Owner

Hello All,

Well, I finally took the plunge after years of envying other owners of those shiny silver beauties.

I purchased a 1962 28' Ambassador locally here in the Phoenix area. The coach is in extremely good condition for its age. No dents or major blemishes on the exterior. It needs a good polishing (will save for a winter project). The interior is complete and in nice original condition.

Some work will be needed I am sure, I look forward to interacting with others and tapping into that knowledge base.

Louis,

Congratulations and welcome to the club. I hope you have lots of fun restoring and camping.

This is the place to get all of the help and advice you need.

Happy Airstreaming!

Marie

Rivet Congratulations!

Welcome to the club. And the usual forum chant “Photos, post photos!”

Rivet Very Nice!

Hi Louis,

It looks like it's in great shape. I noticed that new Carrier roof air, too. Envious. That's my next purchase, just as soon as I save up the cash.

Thanks again, it is a new A/C installed by the PO. I probably paid dearly when purchasing AS, but I think it will be worth it in the long run.

After all, you don't have to do very much to it. Be sure to check the brakes and tires and pack the bearings. See the threads on inspecting the axles and balancing the running gear. Then you are set!

The interior looks great! I really like the real wood inside the 60s Airstreams. It cleans up very nicely. Murphy's Oil Soap for wood followed by a couple of coats of wax might work very well for you.

Enjoy!

I use Murphy's quite a lot at home and for my rental properties... works great on cabinets and wood.

I have had to do some small things so far. New shore power cable, fixed the lock, PO replaced tires, brakes and packed bearings, however he did not read about the axles. Those are definitely going to need a replacement. I have already been in touch with Inland Rv and Oasis in Tucson. A bit pricey, but worth the peace of mind.
