We just purchased a 2007 27 Ft Safari SE and we are excited about hiting the road some. My wife and in are in our mid fifties and new to the RV scene. We still work so we will have to do this part time. I own my business and I am curious to find out if I can use my Airstream as a mobile office and get some tax deductions. Does anyone have any experience with this ? Does anyone have any recomendations for parks in Western NC ? I would like to replace the factory curtains in the Safari. Anyone know where we could order these ? Its great to buy quality junk will always be junk !!!! Go Airstream

I believe you can take the interest you pay as a deduction for a second home. Ask your CPA.

We've recently purchased an '07 International Ocean Breeze and are interested in making it our own. We're not fond of all the blue interior - cushions and curtains and are replacing them (we do like the lightness of the interior, however). We've found the material we're interested in and have taken everything to an upholsterer who will recover all cushions and make new curtains for us. We suggested she use tha backing on the AS curtains so she wouldn't have to mess with the runner clips - getting them spaced correctly and all in the right place. Her comment was that the material that came from Airstream was really cheap material and she would rather use something a little better. It seems that for the price we pay for an AS, they could use a little better quality in their materials. But, we wanted better and we're willing to pay for someone else to do it to our satisfaction. We're anxious to get it done - we're anxious for spring to arrive, too but all will come in their own good time.

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

We have an '05 Safari 25FB,named Lucy, and have traveled extensively in her. We run our business ( out of her. We take orders and ship product from Post Offices all over the country. We have found that we can take our business on the road whenever we pleased.

Welcome to the forums and congrats on getting in on the Airstream fun! Glad you could join in...

We take frequent extended weekend and week+ trips for pleasure...I own my own busienss as well, and have found that with the right internet connect equipment I am able to function on the road much like I function in my home studio... I'm not sure if you can make a case for your AS to be a mobile office...unless you are required to travel as part of your work (which puts a whole new light on to your accountant or tax person), but you can definitely deduct interest (as a second home) and you can deduct any equipment or services that make it possible to conduct business on the road (cell phone & service, air card & service, lap top, etc, etc...) If you full time in your AS you can no doubt deduct a portion of expenses, utilties, etc, just as you can with an office in a wheel-less home.

Virginia Highland Haven

Virginia Highland Haven is less than an hour north of the border and it's an Airstream only park. Opens mid-April I believe. You'll enjoy.

Congrats on the 27. It's a great size.

Today is a gift, that's why they call it the present.

Great Feedback

Thanks for all terrific feedback !! and we even heard about a Airstream only park. Wow I certainly would have never thought that a AS only park existed. I look forward to adding to the forums.
