Cool New Members Intro - Hi from Savannah GA.

Dear knowledgeable members,

My name is David Johnson. My wife and I are looking into Airstreams as our Full-timing living Choice. I am an experienced boater who has spent extended periods of time living on them. My Beautiful Wife brings considerable experience with RVing.. I am looking for a travel trailer that will last longer than 10 years and be livable at the same time.. My wife Ann wants a king bed and tub.. Anyone out there put a king bed in An Airstream? Anyone upgraded to a larger tub?

David & Ann Johnson
Savannah GA.

PS I think that An airstream is the Cadillac of RV. Any help that you can give is greatly appreciated..

Greetings David and Ann. Welcome to the forums. RV's and boats share many things in common, so the two of you are ahead of the game. I can't hlep with the King Sized Bed, but I'll bet somebody here has done it. Are you looking for a new one or a used one? Lots of modifications to new and old campers here. Poke around using that search function at the top of the page, something may turn up.

hello and welcome

there is one member here who has a full size jacuzzi in his trailer...will that work?

an rv (short) queen bed is standard in many models...

sure a king wil fit, just harder to walk around.

some older models had gouchos that made into very large beds, and the rear bath models from the 70s do have a bath tub...

the center beds together make a really large king size bed...

happy hunting, airstreams will last >10 years...

all of the true things that i am about to tell you are shameless lies. l.b.j.

we are here on earth to fart around. don't let anybody tell you any different. k.v.

Hello David -- please accept another welcome to the Forums!

Good luck in your quest. Just be aware that remodeling an Airstream interior must be done with an eye to light weight and distribution fore and aft. A heavy remodel will cut into your GVWR allowance for carrying personal goods aboard. And the beauty of an Airstream is mobility -- they aren't as impressive up on blocks in a campground!

Hi David and Ann, welcome to the forums too. My wife and I are going full time come spring in a 30' Airstream Classic. We are long time rver's and campers having owned all types. We selected our trailer based on what fits our needs. We are "Minimalist",{if that's a good word}, in that we don't need a lot of "Stuff" to be happy. If Airstream has any drawbacks it's with storage. While many do, they are really designed for travel more than full time living. When using them for fulling timing one has to make some adjustments and sacrifices. I personally think making them work for full timing depends more on how you can adjust to them than how you can make them into your needs. There are many well built spacious Rv's on the market with Full Timing as their purposeful design. That said if you have your heart set on an Airstream , like most of us here nothing else will satisfy . pieman

Our Georgia Forums group is a good one, with lots of nice folks and an assortment of ages and backgrounds. If you do get an Airstream, watch for our North GA get together in the Spring (April) . It is informative, and lots of fun. Reservations foir the campsites will open up in Jan. and info will be posted on the Forums Rallys section.

Welcome to the Forums D&A!
I have seen a center bath/ tub on an 88 ish 34' triple axle. I am sure the bed in the back can be swapped out for a king as long as you are ok with less room around the perimeter. I have the rear twins/ no tub in my AS.
You are just up the road, feel free to PM me if you are down this way!
