New members from Western North Carolina

Hello, we are Pat and Harper from 5,000 feet elevation in the mountains of Western NC. We have had small travel trailers for many years, currently a 2004 17' Casita. This trailer is great for cross country trips but we now want to spend much of the winters in warmer climes. This, after having almost 90 inches of snow this year so far. We've always admired the AS and somehow just can't settle for the stick builts. We'll be looking at several in the near future. From the AS website the 23 Silver Cloud with the forward sofa appeals to us most so far. Any advice would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the FORUMS. I am down the mountain from you near Morganton. You'll find the right trailer at the right price soon. Best of luck to you.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

We love Casitas. Every time we see one on the highway, we scream, "there's a Casita". About half the time it turns out to be a Scamp, but no matter. Those things are about as cute as puppies.

Take a look at the 25FB. It really does the trick for long trips. We find the separate bedroom in such a small trailer to be a giant plus. I am an early riser, and SuEllyn is not. A separate bedroom area is a deal breaker for us. We also really like the across the hall shower, double sink, and two door refrigerator. We have camped in our Airstream a whole bunch (805 nights/70,000 miles) and are still married. We have gone off in Lucy (our Airstream) for as long as 8 weeks straight.

Good luck in finding your perfect Airstream.

You sure live in a beautiful part of this country. I had the occasion to visit Waynesville last July---wow---I imagine that Bakersville is similar. I am partial to small trailers. I think you are on the right track especially if you are spending a lot of time in the trailer. I liked the 25' FB model when I got my Bambi and now that they make the 23' FB...both seem nice to me. I believe that with the forward bed the trailer tongue weight is less. That seems like a good idea.

Thanks to all who welcomed us. Will let you know how things progress. Saw a new Earthbound yesterday and was impressed. We will be looking at some new AS's over the coming weekend.
